UPDATE: It’s just been revealed that the production company behind Extraordinary Attorney Woo, ASTORY, has greenlit a Season 2 of the show, which is wonderful news. This means that we will be getting to watch more episodes of this new hit series on Netflix. We still don’t have a release date for Season 2. However, they’ve revealed that they would like Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 to be released sooner rather than later.

The President of ASTORY (Lee Sang Baek), made the following statement about Extraordinary Attorney Woo being renewed for Season 2:

Thanks to the support of many viewers, ‘Attorney Woo’ will return with season 2. We hope to air the second season some time in 2024. However, the process of adjusting the schedules of all of the cast members and crew will pose as a significant challenge. Nonetheless, we plan to proceed with season 2 without any cast member changes, or any changes to the production staff.

There’s a new South Korean series that’s been getting Netflix subscribers taking. It’s called Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and we and many fans want to know if a Season 2 is in the works for Netflix or not. So, without any further ado, let’s try and figure out what’s going on with Extraordinary Attorney Woo and a potential second season.

The show is currently doing incredibly well on Netflix ever since it was released back on the 29th of June. It’s currently sitting in fourth position on Netflix Top 10 shows list. It’s currently behind Locke And Key, The Sandman and Never Have I Ever.

That’s actually really impressive given the fact that the show is in Korean and how popular shows such as The Sandman and Locke And Key have proven to be. Never Have I Ever also is on its third season and is from creator, Mandy Kailing who’s a pretty big name in Hollywood these days.

So, with this in mind and given the show’s incredible performance on Netflix, will Netflix greenlit Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2? Let’s find out.

The show stars Park Eun Bin, who plays the female lead – the autistic lawyer Woo Young Woo. Here’s the show’s official plot synopsis:

Brilliant attorney Woo Young-woo tackles challenges in the courtroom and beyond as a newbie at a top law firm and a woman on the autism spectrum.

As for as a Season 2’s concerned, nothing official has been released by Netflix nor the people involved in the creation of the series. However, people have been talking a season two and the show’s future.

The series’ director Yoo In-shik, mentioned in a recent interview (via Soompi) that ratings and rankings of the drama are crucial to the making of a second season. Yoo added that it’s hard to gather the entire cast again and match their schedules for additional filming.

With this in mind, Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 all depends on how well the show performs on Netflix, and it’s been performing better and better as time goes by. It really does seem as though people are finding the new series on Netflix and really loving it!

The director also shared his gratitude for the support that the project has been gaining during the interview. It’s interesting because the show’s popularity has been slowly growing ever since it was released on Netflix.

Yoo then added that the response was beyond what they expected. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

I started off thinking that it’d be nice to make a drama that’s like a little garden where people can visit and take a break, but I feel like in an instant, it has turned into a field filled with blooming flowers. I’d like to think that our viewers already had much larger and richer fields in their hearts than we expected.

Yoo also expressed his delight in the audience welcoming stories that “capture the sentiment of minorities”, including the drama’s touch on autism.

With all of this in mind, Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 does have a good chance of being greenlit. It’s actually already been revealed that discussions of an American remake of the series are already undergoing.

As for a release date, it all depends on when and if the second season gets the greenlight. It also seems as though the show’s stars are all getting rather famous and therefore, their schedules are becoming very busy very quickly.

So, with this in mind, I highly doubt that a second season would land on the platform in 2023. I would expect it to be released on 2024 at the earliest.

As for what could happen in a season 2 of the show, honestly, your guess is as good as mine. Given how the first season ended, it’s unclear where the story could go from there.

However, it does seem as though the show’s writer, Moon Ji-won and director, Yoo In-shik do have ideas of where they’d like to see the story go in a second season. I wish I could offer you a bit more on that front. But, I’m really at a loss to try and come up with a story idea for the second season.

However, I would love to see what Moon and Yoo come up with if Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2 does end up getting the greenlight.

The series stars Park Eun-bin in the title role, along with Kang Tae-oh and Kang Ki-young. There has been talk about having to recast Kang Tae Oh since he’ll be serving two years in the South Korean military.

This is actually quite a big problem for this series. It stars a few young actors who might have to serve their military service, which is two years in South Korea.

That’s a very long time and would put a huge delay on Season 2’s release date. This is why we’ve been hearing that they might be forced to recast the role should a second season be greenlit.

The series originally aired on the South Korean network, ENA. It was then made available to stream on Netflix in selected regions. So, the show’s renewal isn’t really up to Netflix. It would be up to the network, ENA.

However, given the show’s popularity on Netflix, the streamer might want to step in and force the network to make a second. Or, they could step in a buy the show’s streaming rights from the network. They could then just greenlight a second season themselves.

To be honest, I would rather have the show later with Kang Tae-Oh rather than sooner without him. 2 year breaks isn’t that bad for a show, ratings wouldn’t go down too much anyway. If they plan very well and start filming as soon as he’s finished, we could still get it in 2024. The show releases weekly and they film while episodes are released so we could get it shortly after he comes back!! I wish I could send mail or feedback to the creators and directors because I am pretty sure that we can wait because we want Youngwoo to have her perfect love story <333

Please wait for the Junho we know and love.
Kang Tae Oh is one of the main reasons the series is so loved by so many.

Woo Young Woo and Lee Jun ho as we know them are so perfect on the screen together.
