Henry Cavill Said No To Playing Superman Again

Henry-Cavill-Said-No-To-Playing-Superman-Again

It’s been revealed that Warner Bros Discovery did reach out to Henry Cavill and offered him the chance to play Superman again, but he said no! This news comes to us via Fandango’s Erik Davis (via The Direct).

There have been so many rumours over the past few years about Henry Cavill’s potential return as Superman to the DC Universe. We’ve heard that he’s coming back, then we heard that he’s not coming back. There were also rumours that he would be making an appearance at DC’s Comic-Con panel a few weeks back and was going to announce that he was returning as the Man Of Steel.

There were even rumours that he was going to be announcing a Man Of Steel 2 at the panel! Well, the panel came and went, and there was no sign of Cavill anywhere. We then heard rumours that Cavill didn’t attend the event because he had contracted Covid whilst filming The Witcher Season 3 in the UK.

So, there’s been a lot of talk, but no action and no confirmation from anybody actually involved in these movies and tied to Cavill directly. We’ve reached out to Cavill’s reps on multiple occasions and have still not heard anything about what’s going on with the British movie star.

Well, it seems as though we have some sort of update regarding what’s been going on between Warner Bros Disovery and Cavill. Here’s what Davis had to say about what he’s heard has been going on behind the scenes:

What have you heard about Henry lately, I’ve heard a story that they’ve asked him, and he doesn’t want to do it, he doesn’t want to come back.

I do think that saying that he “doesn’t want to come back” is a bit of a stretch. Cavill has, on multiple occasions, said that he would love to return as the Man of Steel. However, what I believe to be the real issue here is that Warner Bros Discovery is just not offering him enough money to make it worth his while.

Has Cavill got other plans for his future…? Marvel maybe?

There have been rumours for quite some time now that Cavill’s absence from the DC Universe has been due to Warner Bros’ unwillingness to pay the actor’s asking fee. Cavill doesn’t come cheap anymore. He did when these DC Comics movies started since he was basically an unknown entity.

However, Cavill is now pretty much a household name thanks to, in part, his time playing Superman, but also really his time playing Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s hit series, The Witcher. He’s also been in Enola Holmes and is about to star in the sequel alongside Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown.

Could Henry Cavill be angling to play Captain Britain in the MCU?

We’re also hearing that the Highlander reboot that he’s linked to is getting close to becoming a reality. Then there’s also the fact that he’s about to star in Matthew Vaughn’s next spy-thriller, Argylle. He’ll be playing the lead in that movie and yes, he does look ridiculous with that hair, but I can’t wait to see it.

There have also been rumours linking Henry Cavill to the Captain Britain role in the MCU. We’ve heard that he has been talking to Marvel Studios over a potential role, and I’ve recently been informed that Cavill is “desperate to play Captain Britain”. I’ll be going into that in more detail in an upcoming exclusive article.
