The Walking Dead fans are seemingly angry with Norman Reedus after it was revealed that Melissa McBride was exiting the Carol and Daryl spin-off series.

WARNING: Potential SPOILERS below for The Walking Dead Season 11 in this article!

With The Walking Dead season 11 winding down this October for the final time, many spin-offs have already been confirmed, Jeffery Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan will star in The Isle Of The Dead.

Here at Small Screen, we reported about the potential spin-off return of Andrew Lincoln reprising his role as Rick in a spin-off last month.

But one spin-off that was confirmed before the new season began was a spin-off series that would focus on Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus as Carol and Daryl.

However, there was a new development that threw the new spin-off show into disarray and caused some unreasonable anger amongst fans online.

This new development was the shocking revelation that Melissa McBride had stepped away from the spin-off.

AMC Networks confirmed her departure citing other filming commitments which the actress was originally due to film in the summer across Europe.

Here’s what they had to say on the matter in their press release:

Unfortunately, she [McBride] is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spin-off focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year.

However, fans online decided to (bizarrely) attack Norman Reedus across social media after the news broke, which even made AMC Networks release another press release explaining in more detail the situation.

The Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan also responded via Twitter.

Some of you have gone WAY too far. TOXIC. Attacking Norm for c**p he has NOTHING to do with? Melissa made a call that was hers alone. She wants/needs a break. Respect that. [There are] factors involved that are nobody’s business. Norm, who’s given more than anyone to you all.

AMC stated they would be looking at ways they could bring the character back as The Walking Dead’s universe expands.

Naturally, McBride didn’t wish to relocate her family for such a lengthy shoot in Europe in the summer.

The actor has been on The Walking Dead series since it was first released in 2010.

She deserves a break from the series.

However, what will happen to Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead now?

Hopefully, he’ll get to star in another spin-off series.
