Zack Snyder Responds To Calls For The SnyderVerse To Be Sold Netflix

Zack Snyder recently shared his thoughts on the likelihood of Warner Bros selling the SnyderVerse (DCEU) to a different network/platform, such as Netflix. For some time now, fans have been asking Warner Bros to sell the SnyderVerse instead of completely erasing it with the new DC Universe, which is currently being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Warner Bros Discovery has been licensing projects to other networks like The Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix, and Batman: Caped Crusader was recently bought by Amazon. Fans want the established DC Universe created by Snyder to move to Netflix, mainly because the man behind Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League is currently under contract with Netflix.

Snyder has several projects under Netflix right now with Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon. For some time now, the #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix campaign has been trying to get some attention, and fans are interested in this actually happening.

Many are saddened by the fact that the DCEU (aka the SnyderVerse) is slowly being erased from existence. Only The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will have any connection to the DCEU. It was recently confirmed that Blue Beetle wouldn’t be part of the SnyderVerse.

Hopes of continuing Snyder’s DC Universe seem to lie in selling the property if WB and another network are interested in making this happen.

Zack Snyder was asked by Film Junkee what he thinks about Warner Bros selling the SnyderVerse (DCEU) to another network (like Netflix or Amazon Prime) and said:

Amazing to learn that my influence over those things is very small.

It’d be amazing if, you know, whatever control over the IP exists, I don’t… that’s not my part, that’s not my role. As they say, above my pay grade.

Snyder has no control over what happens with the established DCEU. Even though it sounds that many have been vocal about keeping the SnyderVerse, if it does happen, it would be interesting. But the Man of Steel director has admitted that WB has been supportive of his recent upcoming “Full Circle” (some call it SnyderCon) event, and he’s been very busy with his own universe. He continued:

Warner Bros., as far as this screening event is concerned, have been incredible. This group now is beyond, beyond kind and caring and personal, and they’ve been amazing working with them, so I have no complaints. Beyond that, as far as the creative goes and what they’re planning, I honestly have been busy shooting this movie [Rebel Moon]. I have no idea what they’re up to.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn said that even if he can’t join the event since he’ll be promoting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, he’ll be donating to help Snyder’s charity event. Snyder also pointed out that Gunn is a friend, and he has worked with him before on his first film.

You know James is, look, James is a buddy. I mean James wrote Dawn of the Dead. I don’t know if you’re aware of that.

The DCEU, or for some who call it the SnyderVerse, has had a very rough time. While some earlier films were financially good for the company, many of them failed WB’s expectations. Then again, it felt like DC Films was trying to catch up instead of trying its own thing. The main difference from Marvel is that DC Films wanted a team-up first before making individual films.

Many have reported that WB and DC Films kept making changes to DC projects which started with Batman V Superman and was heavily felt in Justice League with the added reshoots by Joss Whedon. Let’s add the fact that Suicide Squad director David Ayer has been asking WB to release his cut of the film since the one released in cinemas was not his.

The new DC Universe is upon us. The Flash establishes that the multiverse does exist, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be the final DCEU film. After that, the first film that will be developed for the new DC Universe is Superman: Legacy.

While the new universe could possibly see the return of some actors from the DCEU reprising their roles, it seems that most of them won’t be returning. Gunn has confirmed that Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, who respectively portrayed Superman and Batman, are not included in the new DC Universe.

To fans hoping to see Netflix getting the Snyderverse. Gunn has said on social media that Netflix hasn’t expressed any interest in the SnyderVerse. And he also added that he has talked to Snyder and is happy doing his own original work.

Snyder’s current projects on Netflix are free from excessive scrutiny from the DC fans and enable him to take full creative control without any restrictions. Netflix is granting him the freedom to pursue his artistic vision, which is the dream of every creative director.

I don’t even know why you include James Gunn into this article, he had nothing to do with FullCircle, if you watch the full interview and not the lie clickbait video that Film Junkee put out you can clearly see Abdy and De Luca are solely responsible.
