Vikings: Valhalla Season 2: Netflix Release Date, Cast & Story
Fans have also been asking when Vikings: Valhalla Season 2’s release date will be.
Another thing we’re going to try and answer for you is who will star in a potential second season.
But, before we get into all of that, let’s go over what Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla’s all about (courtesy of Netflix):
Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). As tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, these three Vikings begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.
Vikings: Valhalla, set over a hundred years after the end of the original Vikings series, is a new adventure that blends historical authenticity and drama with gritty, immersive action. From showrunner and executive producer Jeb Stuart, Valhalla is also executive produced by Morgan O’Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh and Alan Gasmer, Paul Buccieri, and also stars Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Caroline Henderson, Laura Berlin, and David Oakes.
Is Vikings Valhalla Season 2 happening?
Hurrah! It’s been revealed by Netflix that Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 has been greenlit.
They actually revealed that both Seasons 2 and 3 have been greenlit.
This means that we’re going to get to see more of the valiant battles and daring adventures of Leif Erikkson (Sam Corlett), his sister Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), and the Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
It’s already been revealed that production on Season 2 has been completed.
They also announced that filming on Season 3 will begin this spring.
So, with all of this in mind, I would expect Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 to land on Netflix at some point this year.
The show has been in Netflix’s top spot in their Top 10 list, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down any time soon.
People just cannot get enough of the show and more and more people are tuning in to watch the rather bloodthirsty show.
When could Season 2 be released on Netflix?
Vikings: Valhalla Season 1 ended with a very bloody war between the pagans and the Christians.
This ended up starting a huge and pretty much unholy drama across the whole of Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.
It all resulted in the relatively peaceful seaside settlement of Kattegat losing its ruler, Jarl Haakon (Caroline Henderson).
In the final moments of the Season 1 finale, Leif mourns the loss of his lover during battle by violently wielding a double ax and going to town on nearby warriors.
Is Leif in danger of going down the same dark path as his vengeful father before him?
We’re going to have to watch Season 2 to find out what will happen.
Who will star in Season 2?
As for who will star in Vikings: Valhalla Season 2, I’m pretty certain that we’re going to see the likes of Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson and the Leo Suter in the cast.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the show was watched for over 114 million hours on Netflix.
The show’s creator, showrunner and executive producer, Jeb Stuart, had this to say to fans of the series:
Thank you to the millions of you who have watched (and rewatched!) Season 1. The numbers have been mind-boggling and beyond my wildest expectations. I’m thrilled to be able to confirm that we wrapped and are already editing Season 2, and that production will start soon on Season 3. While the storylines for Leif, Freydís, Harald, Olaf, Canute and the rest of our amazing cast are secret, I can say without hesitation that their journeys will be even more epic than what you’ve seen so far.
