It’s been revealed that Danny Boyle’s upcoming 28 Years Later movie is going to feature a pretty incredible, including the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes.

This news comes to us via Deadline. Now, that’s what I call a cast! I remember getting really excited when I heard that Boyle was coming back to direct a sequel to his 28 Days Later movie.

OK, there was 28 Weeks Later that followed up Boyle’s original movie, but he didn’t direct that one, and Alex Garland didn’t write it. It was also revealed that Garland will be returning to write the picture.

It seems as though Hollywood is very excited about this project because everyone wants to be a part of it. There were reports that Charlie Hunnam was being looked at to star in this movie.

However, it looks like he just missed out on the picture and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is in. As far as I’m concerned, I think Taylor-Johnson is a huge upgrade from Hunnam.

I know I’ve been pretty mean about Hunnam in the past, but I just honestly do not get the hype around that actor and I do not understand how he keeps on getting roles.

That said, I did think he was very good in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen movie. He showed another side to his acting ability in that movie.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how it all unfolds in 28 Years Later. I also think it’s very interesting that they opted to skip 28 Months Later, which makes me think that this upcoming movie is going to be set in an even more dangerous world than the one we saw in 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.

The movie is being produced by Sony Pictures and as I mentioned above, Alex Garland will be writing the film’s script.

He’s coming off having directed one of the movies of the year in Civil War. I haven’t seen the picture yet, but the movie’s reviews have been incredibly positive.

There were also some rumours that he was going to give up directing after this movie, but the writer/director recently said that those rumours weren’t true.

Just in case you didn’t know, Jodie Comer was the star of the incredible BBC series Killing Eve. She also starred in Free Guy alongside Ryan Reynolds and Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel.

She’s about to be seen next in The Bikeriders, opposite Tom Hardy and Austin Butler. Her star really is rising!

Comer and Taylor-Johnson also in the picture for James Bond?

There have also been rumours that she might be the next Bond girl alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson as 007. Interestingly enough, he’s also going to be in this upcoming zombie movie.

Perhaps this is a test for the upcoming Bond flick? We’re going to have to wait and see.

As far as Taylor-Johnson is concerned, I’ve made it very clear here on Small Screen how much of an admirer I am of his work. I just think he’s terrific, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to this Danny Boyle movie.

Then there’s Ralph Fiennes – who played M in the Daniel Craig James Bond movies (coincidence…? I think not). What can I say about Fiennes that hasn’t been said already?

He’s just one of the best actors ever. He always delivers incredible performances, whether it’s as ‘He Who Must Not Be Named’ in the Harry Potter movies or as M in the Bond movies.

I really cannot wait to watch this movie. It just can’t come quick enough for me!

What do you make of this news?

Are you looking forward to seeing Comer, Taylor-Johnson and Fiennes in Danny Boyle’s upcoming zombie flick?

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this report.

We still don’t know when this movie will be released, but I’m hoping it’s going to be released towards the end of 2025.
