When Will Wednesday Season 2 Be Released?

BREAKING NEWS: It’s just been revealed that Netflix has officially renewed Wednesday Season 2, which means that the show should be going into production relatively soon!

This comes after we revealed exclusively that Netflix was already working on a second season. There had been some reports that the second season could end up on Prime Video. However, it seems as though the Addams family are staying put with Netflix.

This is terrific news, and it does seem as though the second season will be released in 2024. Our best guess is that the series will be released towards the beginning of the year since Netflix will want to get the second season released as soon as possible.

We will update this article as soon as we get any new information about Wednesday Season 2’s release date.

Wednesday has been really making waves on Netflix since it was released a few days ago, and now we’re wondering when Wednesday Season 2 is going to be released on the streaming platform.

We’ve been doing some digging into this and we think we’ve come up with some information about the show’s second season that you might actually want to hear. So, without any further ado, let’s talk about Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix.

In this article, we’re going to go over whether there will be a second season of this new Tim Burton-directed Netflix series and when it could be released. I’m also going to talk a little bit about what might happen in the show’s second season and who might be starring in it (should it come to fruition).

Let’s discuss all things Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix.

So, as far as Wednesday Season 2 is concerned, it hasn’t been officially renewed, but I have a feeling that Netflix will want to get the second season up and running as soon as possible.

This is based on the fact that the first season of the series has been really well received by critics and audiences alike.

However, as things stand, Wednesday has only been given one season. That said, the show’s first season left a lot of loose strings, and the creators have revealed that they have plans in mind for the show’s future.

Moreover, we were just informed that the second season of the show is already “being discussed” at Netflix, and it looks like it will be renewed relatively soon. Here’s what we were told about the show’s second season by a source with very close ties to the production:

Discussions about what could happen in the second season have been ongoing since the beginning. Season 2 is now actively being discussed with Netflix, so it should only be a matter of time before we get the green light. We’re very hopeful that we will get to make more seasons and really explore this incredible world.

Added to this, during an interview with Empire Magazine (via Screen Rant), one of the show’s co-creators, Alfred Gough, spoke about the possibility of a second season. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

Miles [Millar, the show’s other co-creator] and I are talking amongst ourselves about it. There’s definitely more that you can explore in the world of the Addamses.

I must admit that the statement here is a pretty general one. However, it certainly suggests that a second season should be on the horizon over at Netflix. It seems as though everybody agrees that there’s more of Wednesday’s story to be told.

However, it all depends on how well the show does on the streaming platform. Netflix has proven to be very cut-throat when it comes to cancelling its shows.

I would describe the streaming platform as being trigger-happy, and they seem to love cancelling shows. Even though the platform denies it, they base their decisions on streaming numbers and have a very high bar for the numbers a show needs to get another season.

When could the second season be released on the streaming platform?

So, since the second season hasn’t ‘officially’ been renewed by Netflix, trying to come up with a release date for the show’s second season isn’t easy. However, I will say here that I have it on very good authority that the second season has a strong chance of being renewed.

I’ve also been told that they will likely swiftly get production on Season 2 underway. I’ve been informed that production on the second season should start in early 2023.

It seems as though it’s a question of contracts. The show has some pretty big names tied to it, and that means that Netflix might have to shelve out quite a bit of money to get some of the stars (and the show’s main director) to agree to make a second season. The likes of Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie and Luis Guzmán don’t come cheap!

So, with all of this in mind, I would expect to see the second season land on Netflix in early 2024. My best estimation is that we should see the second season turn up on Netflix in February 2024.

I haven’t been told that that’s the case, but I would suggest that could be a good time to release the show’s second season.

Now it’s time to try and come up with a plot for the second season. As I stated above, the show’s first season left a lot of loose strings, and I am desperate to see Wednesday Addams get to the bottom of this mystery. This is where spoilers come into the picture.

So, if you haven’t finished the first season, then I would suggest you look away now and come back once you’ve finished the show’s first season.

So, Wednesday discovers that her boyfriend is the monster that is terrorising Nevermore. This was incredibly heartbreaking for her, and she really didn’t like the emotion, even though she seemed like enjoy pain. Emotional pain is very different from physical pain.

However, it got worse when Wednesday discovered that he was being controlled by her teacher favourite Ms Thornhill (played by Christina Ricci), who was a bitter ‘normie’ who had an axe to grind with the outcasts.

Given what happened at the end of season 2, I highly doubt that Tyler will continue to be her controlled ‘pet’. I’m pretty sure that he managed to escape at the end of the first season, which means that I’m sure that he’ll come back into Wednesday’s life in the second season.

What I’m not so sure about is whether he will resurface as her friend, lover or foe. What I do envisage is a whole lot more ‘woe’ for Wednesday to deal with in the second season. I also think that the second season will bring in the Morning Songs, a cult-like group run by Bianca’s siren mother, capable of luring in new members.

Her mother coerced Bianca into agreeing to join them to strengthen their persuasive call. There’s room and scope to elevate them to main villain status in season two. One thing that I’m also confident will be addressed in the second season is finding out who’s the mystery texter.

Not long after Xavier gifts her brand-new phone, Wednesday receives a cryptic, threatening text message complete with stalker-y photos of herself. We still don’t know who the sender is, but it’s just the kind of danger that will set Wednesday’s soul on fire. It’s also something that will undoubtedly help churn the wheels of a season two story in motion.

Now onto the show’s cast. Who could be back for Wednesday Season 2? I’m pretty confident that Jenna Ortega and Victor Dorobant will be back as Wednesday Addams and Thing, respectively. I would also expect to see Percy Hynes White back as Xavier Thorpe in the second season. Then I would also expect to see Hunter Doohan back as Tyler.

Also joining the cast should be the following actors:

• Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair
• Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay
• George Farmer as Ajax Pertroplus
• Naomi J Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka
• Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin
• Luis Guzmán as Gomaz Addams
• Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams
• Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams
• Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester

Wednesday is available to watch on Netflix right now.
