Thomas Jane Thinks The Punisher Is Dead At Disney

Thomas Jane, the star of the 2004 The Punisher film, has revealed that he sees no future for the character over at Disney, which is rather sad to hear.

Jane revealed this during an interview with MovieWeb and I must say that I think he’s being a bit pessimistic here.

Here’s what Jane had to say when he was asked about The Punisher’s future over at Disney:

I don’t see a future for Castle. Marvel was bought by Disney. Disney is willing to take things to a certain place, but they’re not willing to go much further. I think that the real noirish, gritty, realist aspect of the anti-hero, it’s not going to be well served [by Disney]. I could be wrong, and I hope I am wrong. But, you know, the real version of Frank hasn’t really been put on film yet.

Is Thomas Jane right? Will Disney never make a Punisher series?

It is interesting to hear Jane say this, however, we do think he’s maybe underestimating Disney a bit here.

We were told by our sources that Disney was indeed planning a Punisher series for Disney Plus.

Moreover, we were told that they want Jon Bernthal to return to play the role and he’s been in heavy negotiations for awhile.

Thomas Jane, during an interview we did with the actor, revealed that he loves Bernthal’s take on the character.

It seemed as though he thought that Bernthal did a better job than he ever could have done in the role because of the circumstances of Jane’s movie.

Incidentally, Jane revealed that he would love to direct Bernthal in a live-action adaptation of the Castle Of Blood arc, which would be epic!

Is Thomas Jane just being a bit pessimistic about The Punisher’s future?

Personally, I think there’s still life left in The Punisher even over at Disney.

We’ve seen Marvel bring the Netflix Marvel shows over to Disney Plus.

It also seems as though they are trying to bring back all the actors who played Marvel characters in the Netflix shows.

The likes of Vincent D’Onofrio, Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and maybe even Jon Bernthal all seem to be coming back to the MCU.

Fingers crossed that Thomas Jane was just being a little bit pessimistic about the future of The Punisher over at Disney.

What do you make of this news?

Do you agree with Thomas Jane, or do you believe he’s wrong and Disney will make a Punisher series or movie in the future?
