The Wheel Of Time Season 3: Release Date, Cast & Story

The Wheel Of Time on Amazon Prime Video has been getting a lot of attention: both for good reasons and bad. We’ve already covered what’s going on with The Wheel Of Time Season 2 is a previous article, but what about Season 3?

Is there going to be a The Wheel Of Time Season 3? And if so, when could it be released? These are just some of the questions we’re going to try and answer for you in this article.

The Wheel Of Time is based on a very popular series of books by Robert Jordan and it does seem as though fans of the books are not very happy with this show.

At least, I gather that’s the case from all the comments we’ve been getting on the site and on our Facebook page about the show.

However, given the show’s viewing numbers and its clear popularity on Prime Video, then Amazon thinks it has a real winner on its hands with this new show.

People who aren’t very well versed in the books seem to enjoy the show which stars the incredible Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred.

The rest of the cast includes the likes of Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon (only in season 1), Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin Guirale, Priyanka Bose as Alanna Mosvani, Hammed Animashaun as Loial, Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche, Kae Alexander as Min Farshaw and Fares Fares as the Dark One.

A great number of these actors will be back for season 2 and hopefully The Wheel Of Time Season 3 as well.

However, one actor who definitely won’t be back for Season 2 or 3 is Barney Harris, who left after the first season.

You can read more about what happened with Barney Harris leaving The Wheel Of Time after just one season here.

To cut a rather long article short, Harris has issues with certain regulations Amazon had put in place on set and decided to leave the show.

He was then replaced by Dónal Finn who had a small role in Netflix’s The Witcher.

But, back to The Wheel Of Time Season 3. First off, is it happening?

Well, we can tell you that yes, it is. We have it on very good authority that Season 3 is already in the works over at Amazon.

This makes sense given how popular the first season was and it was also hinted at when Amazon decided to film the second season before the first had even been released.

Filming on The Wheel Of Time Season 2 is due to be finished next month, and it looks like Amazon will want to get started on Season 3 as soon as possible.

As far as a release date for The Wheel Of Time Season 3 is concerned, the best estimate would be in 2023, since it looks like Season 2 is going to be released at some point this year.

However, it also seems as though Amazon has opted to push The Wheel Of Time Season 2’s release date a bit to make room for their new Lord Of The Rings TV show, The Rings Of Power.

Therefore, with all this in mind, The Wheel Of Time Season 3’s release date might end up being towards the end of 2023.

It also depends on how long it takes to make.

We’ve heard that showrunner Rafe Judkins has already planned out what would happen in Season 3, and pre-production on the third season has already begun.

Therefore, they would just have to start and finish filming, that then post-production will take quite a few months.

These shows take a while in post because there are so many special effects to get done, which takes a lot of time.

Moreover, on November 11, 2021, Midgard Times posted an exclusive article claiming that Season 3 had been greenlit and would begin filming immediately after season 2.

Interestingly enough, on the exact same day, the Arabic Prime Video Twitter account stated that Season 3 was going forward.

Added to all this, on December 11, 2021, the official Amazon Help account on Twitter stated there were 3 seasons of the show in development.

And finally, during a Q&A held on November 24, 2021, showrunner Rafe Judkins revealed that they are planning for The Wheel Of Time Season 3.

He added that they are being mindful about the time between season releases.

However, Rafe also mentioned that Season 3 is not yet confirmed.

The Wheel Of Time is a joint production between Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.

Amazon’s floppy tWoT should have been canned after the first TERRIBLE episode. This show did nothing but pay for the use of these character’s names. That’s where the resemblance to the books ENDS. The “plot” of this show is ridiculous and the costumes are straight out of a 90s CW show (think Xena or Hercules, but worse).
