She-Hulk On Disney Plus: Everything We Know So Far – Plus Rumours

Marvel has quite the offering of television shows and films coming to us on Disney Plus and in theatres. During Disney Investors Day 2020, Marvel head and super-producer Kevin Feige revealed their upcoming slate of MCU properties.  One of them was She-Hulk. Here’s everything we know about Disney Plus’ She-Hulk, along with all the current rumours.

Who’s involved in bringing She-Hulk to the screen?

Marvel is quite well known for being particular who they chose to work on their franchises. You can be sure when people are announced that Marvel really liked their pitch or previous work. The people involved in Marvel’s She-Hulk on Disney Plus is no exception.

Jessica Gao is the showrunner on She-Hulk. Gao started writing for television in 2008 and since then has written for television shows such as The Mighty B!, Robot Chicken, Silicon Valley and Rick and Morty.  You can be sure she will be bringing her comedy chops to Marvel’s She-Hulk.

Interestingly enough, we reported that Marvel tapped another Rick and Morty allum (and Doctor Strange 2 writer), Michael Waldron to be head writer and Executive Producer on the Loki series.

Kat Coiro will be joining Jessica Gao. Coiro is a veteran director and will be doing just that on the Disney Plus series. As well as directing the pilot episode and more, she will serve as Executive Producer. Coiro’s credits include The Mick, It’s Always Sunny in Philidelphia and Dead To Me.

Rounding out the team is Anu Valia. She will be directing some episodes (more on that below), and her directing credits include The First Wives Club, Mixed-Ish and Never Have I ever.

Who’s in the cast?

It was rumoured back in September 2020 that Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) would be playing Jennifer Walters, a.k.a She-Hulk in the Disney Plus series. Marvel directly confirmed this during the Disney Investor Day event.

They also confirmed that Tim Roth would be back playing The Abomination, and if you ask me that’s fantastic. Roth is a great actor and his time as The Abomination didn’t do the character justice.

And the big green guy himself will be appearing in the show. Mark Ruffalo is also set to return to play The Hulk in Marvel’s She-Hulk on Disney Plus. How many episodes he or Roth will get remains to be seen but let’s hope we get to see them duke it out again.

Who’s been rumoured to show up on She-Hulk? Liv Tyler is rumoured to return as Betty Ross and transform into the Red Hulk. Kristen Ritter (Jessica Jones) is also rumoured to make an appearance, as well as Charlie Cox (Daredevil). I can see Charlie Cox as Daredevil turning up in She-Hulk because of what we’re about to discuss below.

What type of show is She-Hulk?

Kevin Feige stated the show will be a “half hour legal comedy”. He added that it is something Marvel Studios has never done before. Here’s what he had to say about the Marvel She-Hulk series on Disney Plus during the Disney Investor Day event:

It’s a series about a woman trying to navigate the world and be taken as a working professional despite the fact that she is well over 6’7″ – and green. [The series is] very funny. Since Jennifer Walters is a lawyer who specializes specifically in superhero-oriented legal cases, you never know what Marvel characters are gonna pop up from episode to episode.

I can definitely see Matt Murdock showing up in She-Hulk. Even Jessica Jones makes sense, maybe Murdock has to represent her in court for some bad behaviour?

How many episodes do we get?

Right now, that’s a bit tricky. The official statement on episodes for Marvel’s She-Hulk on Disney Plus is 6 episodes. However, in an Instagram post, Kat Coiro stated that she would be directing the pilot, the finale and 4 other episodes. And on twitter, Anu Valia said she would be doing a “couple of episodes”. Unless this was a miscommunication by Coiro on her post, this adds up to She-Hulk having 8 or more episodes. Kevin Feige recently stated there will be 10 episodes.

Will She-Hulk cross over into the Marvel films?

Yes! Back in November, we reported that She-Hulk would be coming to the films after the series ends on Disney Plus.

Here’s what Kevin Feige had to say:

All three will appear on the big screen after their Disney+ debuts

By three, he means She-Hulk, Moon Knight and Ms Marvel. That’s exciting news and it will be interesting to see how She-Hulk and the others interact in the MCU.

When will She-Hulk premiere on Disney Plus?

Right now there is no exact date when Marvel’s She-Hulk will premiere on Disney Plus. What we do know is that it will be coming sometime in 2022. Let’s hope it’s the first quarter of 2022.
