Black Adam Villain Revealed In New Leak

It seems as though a new leak for DC Films and Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming  Black Adam movie has revealed who the film’s main villain will be, and it’s going to be a real doozie! It seems as though Sabbac is going to be making his DC Universe debut in Black Adam if these new leaks are anything to go by! This all comes after the movie had a massive presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

We’ve seen a bunch of trailers for the Dwayne Johnson-led movie, but there was no sign of any villain in them. It really does seem as though everyone involved in the movie is trying to keep that information very secret indeed. Some may say Top Secret!

Well, maybe this information was part of the documents the FBI just seized at Donald Trump’s residence in Florida, Mar-a-Lago…? That’s a joke by the way, just in case you didn’t notice.

The movie’s promotional material was making it seem as though Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam was going to be the film’s main villain. However, it seems as though that won’t be the case.

Yes, the Justice Society Of America is going to be fighting him, but it seems as though they might end up joining forces to go up against an even bigger threat. This Black Adam movie villain might have been revealed by McFarlane Toys.

Yep, it’s another case of a toy company leaking rather important information about an upcoming comic book movie. Lego seems to do it all the time with Marvel movies, and now we’re seeing McFarlane Toys do the same thing for DC Comics movies.

McFarlane Toys’ are not like Lego sets. They are known for their high-quality detail at competitive prices. They recently released their new DC Multiverse Black Adam lineup, which included the movie’s main villain, Sabbac!

Yep, it looks like Dwayne Johnson’s Black and the Justice Society Of America will be up against Sabbac, which is actually quite exciting.

Here’s what’s written on the McFarlane Toys’ box for this Sabbac figurine:

Possessed by a demon, a military Intergang leader transforms into Sabbac, the only being whose powers are equal to those of Black Adam.

So, not only are we getting information about the movie’s main villain, but we’re also getting some of his backstory thanks to this McFarlane Toys leak.

There were two versions of Sabbac in the comic books. The character first turned up in Captain Marvel Jr. issue number 44. That was in 1943, so the character’s been around for quite some time. This was back when the comic books were published under the name Fawcett Comics. It was that long ago!

The character was created by writer Otto Binder and brought to life in the comics by artist Al Carreno. The character’s alter ego is Timothy Karnes, and much like Captain Marvel in the comics (Shazam in the movies), can become Sabbac when he says the word ‘Sabbac’.

So, Sabbac is basically Shazam’s dark counterpart, and it was that way in the comics for many years. Sabbac gets his evil powers from some of the darkest and scariest creatures in the universe, namely Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus and Crateis.

There have been multiple versions of this potential Black Adam villain

However, there was also a second version of Sabbac. In 2004, Ishmael Gregor, a Russian immigrant, wanted to be embued with the power of Sabbac. In order to do so, he conducted a ritual and killed Karnes.

He then managed to transfer the power of Sabbac unto himself successfully. This version of the character was developed by writer Judd Winick and artist Tom Raney.

The character was then altered again by the New 52 line of DC Comics comic books. This was in 2011 when writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank created a new version of the character. In this new comic book run, Sabbac possesses an evil person, rather than it being a human who utters Sabbac’s name to gain the powers. This version was more of an embodiment of the seven deadly sins, and I have to say that it was pretty darn cool.

It seems as though this will be the version of the character in that they’ll be using in the Black Adam movie.

So, who could be playing Sabbac in the upcoming Black Adam movie? That’s a very interesting question. It does seem as though the human who’ll be possessed by Sabbac in the movie will be the Russian immigrant, Ishmael Gregor. I mean, given everything that’s going on in the world right now, of course, a Hollywood blockbuster is going to make its main villain a Russian…

It hasn’t been announced yet who’ll be playing the character in the movie. It does seem as though DC Films and Warner Bros. Pictures are trying to keep all of this as secret as they possibly can.

Marwan Kenzari’s Black Adam role is still a secret

However, there might have been a leak back in October 2020. The Illuminerdi reported that Marwan Kenzari will be playing the role of Sabbac.

We then had the official confirmation that Kenzari is a part of the film’s cast. However, we still haven’t had any official confirmation on the actual role he’ll be playing in the movie. Kenzari is a Dutch actor that grew to prominence in Hollywood after his performances as Jafar in Disney’s live-action Aladdin and starring also in Netflix’s The Old Guard and Kenneth Branagh’s Murder On The Orient Express.

Kenzari can speak fluent Dutch, Arabic, French and English, so they might be altering the character’s backstory slightly. I’m pretty certain they’ll be making him an immigrant in the movie. But I wonder whether it’ll be a much more sympathetic and maybe even tragic story they opt to tell about this particular character in the movie.

Black Adam is set to hit theatres in the United States on October 21st, 2022.
