It’s been revealed by DC Studios’ co-CEO, James Gunn, that he and Peter Safran have had talks with Ben Affleck about directing a movie in the future for DC, which I think would be an excellent decision. He revealed this news on Twitter, and I hope that their talks ended up being very positive.
However, what this could mean is that Ben Affleck’s time playing Batman in the DC Universe could be about to come to an end, which I don’t think would be a bad thing. There are so many possibilities. He could direct a Batman movie, but given what Gunn said, it seems as though they might have other plans in mind for Ben Affleck’s potential DC directorial debut.
Ben Affleck has been in talks to direct a DC Studios movie
Here’s what Gunn had to say about his and Safran’s meeting with Ben Affleck:
Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project.

He revealed this after someone on Twitter asked Gunn whether Affleck could end up directing anything for DC Studios. This could actually end up being a huge deal for DC and for James Gunn. Affleck has already proven himself to be a very good director, and he’s wanted to make a DC movie for years.
He was going to make a Batman movie years ago, but the film ended up being cancelled after he couldn’t crack the movie’s script, which was upsetting. I’m very interested in knowing which characters they were talking about. There have been reports that they might have been talking about making a Deathstroke film, and I think that might be a really good choice.
Which DC movie could he end up directing?

We’re going to have to wait and see what ends up happening. It still seems to be very early days over at DC Studios. However, Gunn and Safran haven’t wasted any time in getting things moving over at DC Studios. It’s been revealed that Henry Cavill will not be playing Superman in the DCU moving forward. Gunn is writing a Superman script. Wonder Woman 3 has been cancelled. It’s also been reported that Jason Momoa might be exiting the Arthur Curry role after Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. There have been reports that Gunn and Safran like Momoa for Lobo in the DCU, which I think would be perfect casting.
All I hope is that Gunn and Safran actually get the opportunity to make the movies and TV shows that they want to make over at DC Studios. I really hope that things don’t end up changing yet again over at Warner Bros. There have been rumours that Discovery might want to end the merger with WarnerMedia, which I think would be a mistake. There is so much potential with Warner Bros and DC Studios.
Bringing people like James Gunn on board to try and sort out the whole mess with DC is a great decision. Let’s see what he and Safran end up doing with the upcoming movies and TV shows.
