Willem Dafoe Reportedly Cast In Beetlejuice 2

Willem Dafoe Reportedly Cast In Beetlejuice 2

Green Goblin actor Willem Dafoe has reportedly been added to the cast of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2 as a police officer from the afterlife.

The film has been in development hell since 1990. The project only moved when Brad Pitt’s production company got involved in making the film back in February 2022. But it took another year before things got rolling.

Ever since the announcement of Beetlejuice 2 being officially in development in March 2023, casting has been in high gear, with reports of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara reprising their roles from the 1988 film. Danny Elfman will also be back for the film’s soundtrack.

Jenna Ortega joined the cast as the daughter of Ryder’s Lydia Deetz after being part of Tim Burton’s Wednesday series. Then Justin Theroux is cast with a role still under tight wraps.

What is most interesting apart from the latest casting news is that Monica Bellucci is in negotiations to be Beetlejuice’s wife in the film.

Nevertheless, there is still a limited amount of info available about the film. Now, it appears that a renowned award-winning actor will be coming on board too.

Giant Freakin Robot reports that critically acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe is already set to appear in the Beetlejuice sequel. Not only that, but it seems that his role is a police officer that happens to be a ghost.

However, since we don’t really know what the plot is going to be, it is still vague as to how big Dafoe’s role will be in the film. Is he going to be a police officer for the movie’s distinct ‘Neitherworld’, or is he just helping out, or would he be a villain? Right now, it’s anybody’s guess.

Given that Beetlejuice is considered a pathological rule-breaker, some form of police or authority would be bound to encounter him on his escapades. Quite possibly, this policeman may already be too familiar with Beetlejuice also. From another perspective, could they even be best friends?

For now, we are just happy to learn about the developments of the sequel. And judging by the response online about updates of its production, people are really looking forward to seeing what Tim Burton has in store as a follow-up story to Keaton’s whacky ghoulish character.
