Honestly, I think that The Wheel Of Time might be one of the best shows I’ve watched this year. It didn’t start brilliantly well, but we’re now seven episodes in and I cannot wait to see what’s next.

One of the big questions fans of the show have been asking themselves is ‘who is the real dragon reborn’. Now, I know many of you who’ve read the books will know the answer already. I want all of you who’ve read the books to remain silent on this one.

I get it, you probably know already who is the real Dragon Reborn, but those of us who didn’t read the books don’t know yet, and we all do love to speculate. So, let’s speculate.

Who is the real Dragon Reborn in Amazon Prime’s The Wheel Of Time?

The Amazon Prime Video series follows Moiraine (played by Rosamund Pike), a member of the Aes Sedai, a powerful organization of women who can channel the One Power. With her Warder, Lan (Daniel Henney), she seeks a group of five young villagers from the secluded Two Rivers, believing one of them is the reincarnation of the Dragon, an extremely powerful channeller who broke the world.

The Dragon Reborn is prophesied to either save the world from a primordial evil known as the Dark One, or break it once more. It’s a pretty cool premise for the show and I think we’re all on the edge of our seats whilst watching it.

Right, so who is the Dragon Reborn? We’ve already had a ‘fake’ one in Alavaro Morte’s Logain Ablar. However, the real candidates are Nynaeve al’Meara (Zoë Robins), Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden), Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), and Mat Cauthon (Barney Harris).

Is Rand really the Dragon Reborn?

Episode 7 of The Wheel Of Time seemed to indicate that Rand was the real Dragon Reborn. He went to Moiraine and told her that it was him. They then went off together to go and confront the Dark One.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Rand is the actual Dragon Reborn. My suspicion is that he did this to save his friends because it seems as though if they all go, then the ones who aren’t the Dragon Reborn will not survive.

That said, I do wonder whether they all are the Dragon Reborn and that in order to defeat the Dark One they will have to work together. This would make sense because in the previous battles with the Dark One it was always just one Dragon Reborn against the Dark One.

It also seems as though it was relatively easy for the Dark One to corrupt the Dragon and having five people all work together will make it harder for The Dark One to get into the Dragon’s head.

Could they defeat the Dark One together?

That’s just my theory, and I’d love to hear what you guys think will happen in this show. There are a lot of books – 14 I believe – so there’s obviously a lot more story to be told.

It does also seem as though Amazon is really putting its full weight behind this show. The second season has already been shot, and I’m being told that they are gearing up for production on the third season as we speak.

Thia is why the Amazon version is trash. There should never even be a doubt in your head about who the Dragon is by the end of the first book. The fact that it expanded the possible candidates to 5 instead of 3 is just another reason this show has turned sour.

Have your say...
