It’s been revealed that Top Gun 2 (Top Gun: Maverick) has beaten Doctor Strange 2 (Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness) to become 2022’s highest-grossing movie so far!

Top Gun: Maverick has been dominating the US box office!

The movie has now passed $400 million at the US box office (via Collider) and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down any time soon.

With $400 million in the bank, the movie has now leapfrogged Doctor Strange 2 to become 2022’s highest-grossing movie in the United States!

That’s a pretty impressive feat given how many people went to see the second Doctor Strange movie and also the power of Marvel Studios.

Worldwide, Doctor Strange 2 is still ahead of Top Gun: Maverick.

However, it does seem as though American audiences have really taken to the new Tom Cruise movie.

It also shows that Tom Cruise still has box office appeal!

This is his best-performing movie of all time, and that’s saying something.

Internationally, the movie managed to make an impressive $362 million.

This means that Top Gun 2’s global box office takings is currently $783.8 million.

Given how well the movie is still doing, both in the US and overseas, Top Gun 2 could end up coming very close to hitting the $1 billion mark!

This movie is an important one for Cruise himself since it has overtaken his previous global record holder, Mission Impossible: Fallout, which sits at $791 million.

Moreover, it looks like Top Gun 2 will end up overtaking the original movie’s box office takings, which ended up at the $440 million (adjusted for inflation) mark domestically.
