Interesting developments arise as rumours say Tom Holland will reprise his Spidey role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse animated sequel. Are you ready to see live-action MCU Universe 616 Peter Parker’s Spider-Man meet animated Miles Morales’ wall-crawling web-slinging neighbourhood spider?

As it is Marvel Studios and Sony, we are talking about the possibility will certainly be there. Now, some strong sources say that this will soon be a reality. As the animated universe of Sony is also deep in its multiverse narrative, fans are looking forward to seeing what is next for the character other than reconnecting with Spider-Gwen.

In an episode of The Hot Mic show (via ComicBookMovie.com), they say that Jeff Sneider disclosed a detail he had heard. Apparently, Holland might just make an appearance in Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Taking the information to a notch level deeper, the article shares that Holland will be in the movie as live-action Peter Parker aka Spider-Man meeting the animated Miles Morales Spidey. How and at which point in the movie this happens is not in the posted rumour.

IMDb still shows that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on June 1st or 2nd this year, depending on which country, except for Belgium, which displays May 31st. The description reads:

Miles Morales catapults across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, has obviously had his fair share of the concept and experience of the Multiverse. Just from his own third movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, he has already encountered two versions of himself, as portrayed by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

The possibility of meeting an animated Miles Morales is also not far-off. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange and Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez cross over into an animated dimension. Thus, the link between those two worlds is already established.

I think there is even the possibility that they could have reached Miles Morales’ universe in No Way Home if Ned had asked to see Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker. That would have been so interesting.

The upcoming animated movie is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson from writers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Dave Callaham. Dos Santos produced and directed episodes of 2016 Voltron: Legendary Defender and 2012 The Legend of Korra. Powers co-directed the award-winning animated movie Soul. While Thompson will be new to the responsibilities of directing but not new to the franchise, he was the production designer for the 2018 movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Oscar winners Lord and Miller return to write the sequel with Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings writer Callaham.

The question now remains as to whether animation Miles Morales will genuinely meet the Universe 616 Peter Parker or Spider-Man or both in the upcoming movie. That is, if ever this rumour becomes true. Excitingly so, there is also the possibility that Morales might just meet a variant or another multiverse version of Holland’s Parker.
