Nicolas Cage Isn’t In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

Nicolas Cage Won’t Be In Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse

Fans of Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie will be disappointed to know that Nicolas Cage will not be in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. For a while, since they dropped the trailer, people have been asking where Spider-Man Noir is and whether he is indeed in the movie.

Now, thanks to Screen Rant, the question has an answer but many won’t like it. Cage answers the question at the same time, leaving his door open for future projects as the character.

In fact, he states that he loves the superhero, saying it is a great character.

In an interview with Nicolas Cage to promote his upcoming project The Old Way, the actor replies:

You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with that. No one’s spoken to me about that. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t. I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that’s a great character. Spider-Man’s the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, it’s a great character.

Sadly, his character Spider-Man Noir will not be in the upcoming sequel to the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Sony not giving Cage a call for the movie, of course, means he isn’t in it.

However, it doesn’t mean he will be absent in future movies if they ever decide to pursue them. It all depends on that “call”.

While details of the upcoming movie’s story are naturally still under wraps, audiences already know that some characters from the previous movie are returning.

Shameik Moore returns as Miles Morales showing a closer relationship with Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy. In addition, Jake Johnson will be back as Peter B. Parker. Even Oscar Isaac is back as Miguel O’Hara.

The upcoming movie has established the premise through its trailer, showing a multiverse villain endangering the existence of all Spider-powered individuals. Miles has to join work with Gwen and the Spider Force to defeat The Spot whom Jason Schwartzman lends his voice to.

Because Sony did not reach out to Cage for the newest instalment of the animated Spidey movies, it is possible that the new storyline does not need the presence of his monochromatic Spider-Man character.

For whatever reason, we just hope the character is not re-cast for the movie because Cage did really well in Into the Spider-Verse. Not to mention that the actor genuinely likes the character as well.

In the trailer, Miles travelled through various universes, somewhat echoing the scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We are just curious why the production opted to leave out the monochromatic world of Spider-Man Noir.

Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage may not be appearing in the upcoming movie but that does not mean he is not busy. Just as the interview is to promote his newest movie, The Old Way, he has several other titles under his belt in various stages of production.

Recently,  Universal Pictures released the trailer for Renfield, which showed Cage in all his Dracula glory. Currently in post-production, the vampire movie bites into theatres this April. His other projects include Dream Scenario, Sand and Stones, Longlegs, Retirement Plan and Sympathy for the Devil.
