The Walking Dead spinoff shows are coming, and we cannot wait to watch them. So, here’s everything we know about these upcoming shows so far. The Walking Dead comes to an end this winter on AMC after 11 seasons in which it became one of the highest-rated and watched series in television history.

The show starred Andrew Lincoln in the lead role of Rick Grimes. The series ended up surpassing all expectations. I highly doubt that AMC ever thought it would go on to be as successful as it ended up being. The series is based upon a comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman.

However, even though the main Walking Dead show is coming to an end, the story isn’t going to stop there. We’ve learned that there are plans to expand the show’s universe with new spinoff shows such as The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Tales of the Walking Dead. We are getting not one, not two, but three spinoffs with the original cast. This is everything that we know so far about these upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff shows.

Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) has grown into the hearts of fans worldwide. His spinoff series, which initially was supposed to include Carol (due to family commitments, she’s left the show), will take place in France. He’ll be dealing with ‘smart zombies’, and the actor stated, for the most part, it will “be me alone”.

This series was previously referred to as Isle Of Dead. However, it was recently announced that this spinoff series was going to be called The Walking Dead: Dead City. The series was announced before the fate of either character had been shown in the latest series, this pits two enemies together.

Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, and Negan, played by Jeffery Dean Morgan, will reunite in New York City. We’ve been promised their ending in the main series will set the ‘bar high’ so that there are huge stakes at play when the series begins. It’s full of action, conflict, zip lines and insane walkers, and the spinoff series is already underway shooting scenes.

It was revealed not that long ago that the Rick and Michonne Walking Dead spinoff show was happening! The series was initially planned as a series of three movies. It’s now been switched to a series, and it’s set for a 2023 release. The series will focus on Rick Grimes and Michonne, played by Danai Gurira.

There was a surprise announcement that came at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in which Andrew Lincoln and Danai Guirira revealed that the Rick and Michonne series was happening. They added that we’re going to be getting over six episodes we’ll get to see the final chapter and story for Rick Grimes and Michonne.

Here’s the synopsis for the Rick and Michonne spinoff Walking Dead series:

This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?

An epic love journey

Scott Gimple, who scripted the planned Walking Dead movie trilogy with franchise creator Robert Kirkman, will serve as showrunner on the series. Lincoln and Gurira will also serve as executive producers on the series.

“Rick and Michonne are two of my favourite people, and Danai and Andy are two of my favourite people. Working with all of them continues to be a dream come true,” Gimple said. “The three of us, along with a terrific team of TWD all-stars and incredible new voices, are crafting an insane love epic worth the long, long wait.”

Lincoln then added: “This has been the most extraordinary journey playing Rick Grimes for the best part of a decade. The friendships I’ve made along the way are deep and lasting, so it’s fitting that I finally get to complete the story with Danai and Scott and the rest of the TWD family. I’m so excited to be returning to the screen as Rick, reuniting with Danai as Michonne, and bringing the fans an epic love story to add to the Walking Dead Universe.”

Gurira had this to say about this upcoming spinoff show:

Michonne and this TWD family has meant so much to me, and to continue the journey of these beloved characters, alongside Scott and Andy, both creatively and in front of the camera, and bringing The Walking Dead fans something truly special is just glorious. I can’t wait to pick up the katana again.

You’ll be able to watch all of these Walking Dead spinoff shows on AMC. They will start being released in 2023.
