Sylvester Stallone Is Leaving The Expendables Franchise

It’s been revealed by Sylvester Stallone himself that he will be leaving The Expendables franchise after The Expendables 4, which is rather sad.

He revealed this in a video he published on his Instagram account just the other day.

The Expendables 4 has just wrapped production and it seems as though Stallone has decided to call it a day on the franchise he’s been a part of since the beginning.

This Expendables franchise was very much his baby.

Stallone wrote the first three movies – he didn’t write this fourth one – and he directed the first Expendables movie.

He is going to remain a producer of the as of yet untitled female Expendables movie.

However, will not be returning as Barney Ross after this fourth film.

Stallone called the decision to exit the series he helped launch “bittersweet”.

However, he added that he is “ready to pass the baton on” to co-star Jason Statham “and his capable hands.”

Stallone then reflected on the “heart, energy and humour” he’s looked to bring all of his projects including those in The Expendables franchise.

Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

The greatest thing is being able to provide films [and] entertainment [where] maybe there’s a little message in there, because what I try to convey in my successful films is the human touch. Not so much the action; the action is self-evident. But it’s just relating to the audience in a way that they can identify with whatever the mission is, with the characters at hand.
