Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker To Feature More Of Rey’s Parents’ Story Says Daisy Ridley

I remember before Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released in cinemas people were writing countless articles and making millions of videos on who Rey’s parents might be, and then it was revealed by Kylo Ren they were nobodies, and people are still hoping that they will be retconned in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Well, it sounds like J.J. Abrams’ film might hold all the answers many Star Wars fans were hoping for, as Daisy Ridley herself revealed that questions surrounding who’s Rey’s parents are in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

She was talking about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, and that’s when she opened up about Rey’s parents’ story in the movie.

Here’s what the actress had to say on the matter in full:

It’s not that she doesn’t believe it. She feels there’s more to the story. And she needs to figure out what’s come before so she can figure out what to do next.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi Kylo Ren told Rey that her parents were “filthy junk traders”. Here’s exactly what he told her about them:

They were filthy junk traders. Sold you off for drinking money. They’re dead in a pauper’s grave in the Jakku desert. You come from nothing. You’re nothing. But not to me.

Sounds like Rey’s parents will still have some importance in The Rise of Skywalker

That’s a pretty harsh thing to tell Rey, but it might not be totally true. There could be space in there for her parents to still have some sort of part to play in the grander scheme of things.

There have been so many theories on who her real parents could be. Many people have suggested that she could be either related to Obi-Wan Kenobi – the child of a secret love child perhaps – or maybe even Palpatine himself.

It’s been suggested that Palpatine may have manipulated midi-chlorians to then impregnate Shmi Skywalker and she then gave birth to Anakin, which means he could have done the same thing for Rey to be born, making them all technically Palpatine’s children.

That would mean that Palpatine is the ultimate grandaddy and the original Skywalker, which could explain why the film is called The Rise of Skywalker…
