Sasha Calle Cast As Supergirl In Andy Muschietti’s The Flash Movie

It’s been revealed that Sasha Calle has been cast as Supergirl in Andy Muschietti’s upcoming The Flash movie. This news was revealed by Muschietti himself via an Instagram post in which he shared his Zoom call with Sasha.

In that Zoom call, Muschietti told Sasha she was going to be playing Supergirl in his upcoming The Flash film and she was speechless. It’s a wonderful video and it makes me both really happy for her and desperate to see her take on the role.

Supergirl was played by Melissa Benoist in The CW’s Supergirl TV show, and she was great in that show. However, the show was cancelled and they opted to cast a different actor in the role of the upcoming DC Flash film.

The Boston, MA-born Colombian actress is the first Latina Supergirl to ever be cast in a DC Comics movie, and she was picked from more than 425 actresses who auditioned for the role. She will be making her big-screen debut in The Flash movie.

The Flash director Andy Muschietti watched all the auditions with DC Films boss Walter Hamada and the film’s producers. Muschietti was reportedly blown away by the actress’ toughness and vulnerability that she brought to the role.

“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,” said Muschietti.
