Ryan Coogler has claimed that the iconic Marvel Comics villain, Doctor Doom, isn’t in his movie, Black Panther 2 (Wakanda Forever). Moreover, the movie’s producer, Nate Moore, also revealed this during a recent interview with ComicBook.com’s podcast, Phase Zero, and this is really something that interests us because we were informed that the villain would, at the very least, be referred to in the movie.

Here’s what the movie’s producer Nate Moore revealed when he was asked whether Doctor Doom is going to be in the movie:

It wasn’t, to be quite honest, although I get why. He’s such a great character and the world of Latveria is so fantastic and Ryan is a fan. But once we decided Namor was the antagonist, that was always going to be the focus.

Looks like Black Panther 2 isn’t going to feature Doctor Doom

Moreover, in a separate interview, director Ryan Coogler was also asked about Doom. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

In this movie? No. I try not to read too much. But yeah, no.

So, it does seem as though the iconic Marvel character isn’t going to be in the movie, which is a shame, but I’m also not very surprised that he’s not going to be in the movie. There was a lot of chatter about Doctor Doom turning up in the movie, and I think it’s for the best. This movie wanted to really be its own thing and not undercut anything that’s happened in the movie by adding a post-credits scene that teased Doctor Doom.

Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in cinemas on November 11th in the United States and the United Kingdom.
