Doctor Doom Won’t Be The Villain In Fantastic Four

It’s being reported that Doctor Doom will not be the main villain in the Fantastic Four movie that’s being planned at Marvel Studios. Instead, it’s being reported that the character will be introduced in the movie’s post-credits scene. This news comes to us via Jeff Sneider, who was on The Hot Mic podcast and dropping scoop after scoop. The very first scoop he dropped tied in quite nicely with an exclusive article we post a while back. We’ll go into all of that in a second.

Many rumours have suggested that Doctor Doom is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think all Marvel fans know that the iconic Marvel supervillain is coming to the MCU, and it’ll probably be sooner rather than later. However, even I was a bit shocked when I was told by one of my sources that Marvel’s plan was to bring the character into Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I was told that the character would be merely introduced to the MCU in the movie but that he wouldn’t play a vital part.

Doctor Doom could be in Fantastic Four’s post-credits scene

Well, this then spawned a bunch of rumours claiming that Victor Von Doom was going to be the actual villain pulling the strings behind the scenes in Black Panther 2. We were never told that that was going to be the case. However, we did speculate that it could be a cool way to introduce the character to the MCU. However, we’re now hearing that he’ll actually be properly introduced in Fantastic Four’s post-credits scene.

So, it seems as though Marvel Studios is taking its time with the character, and I think this is the best thing to do because he is very important for the future of the MCU. Some speculation suggested that Doom might be manipulating Namor in Black Panther 2 from being the scenes. However, it seems as though Doom’s involvement in that movie will be nothing more than a nod and a wink. This means that Namor will be of his own accord and won’t be influenced by another, more menacing villain. I like this because Namor deserves to have agency. I think that having a villain such as Doom being the one orchestrating things from behind the scenes would erode that agency for Namor.

Who will be Fantastic Four’s villain?

Here’s what Sneider had to say about the iconic villain’s MCU introduction.

I’m told that Doctor Doom is not the villain in Fantastic Four. That Doctor Doom will be introduced in basically a mid-credit or post-credits scene. Which I think makes sense.

So, it seems as though the Fantastic Four will be going up against a different villain in the upcoming movie. There are so many villains that they could go up against instead. Namor has been a villain with the Fantastic Four. There’s Galactus, the Silver Surfer, and Molecule Man… There are so many great villains to choose from, and I just hope that Marvel Studios picks the right villain for the movie.

Fantastic Four will hit theatres on February 14th, 2025. It’s being directed by WandaVision director, Matt Shakman.
