Michael Keaton’s Batman Role In The Flash Reduced

It’s been revealed that Michael Keaton’s Batman role in The Flash movie has been seriously reduced, and this is not good news as far as I’m concerned. This was revealed by Geekosity and Syl Abdul. So, it seems as though we’re not going to get to see as much of Keaton’s Batman as we were hoping to see.

It was revealed ages ago that Keaton was going to play the Dark Knight again in The Flash and also in the Batgirl movie. Well, the Batgirl movie has since been cancelled. And it was then revealed that Keaton would turn up as the Dark Knight in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. However, that appearance has also been canned after The Flash movie’s release date was pushed back, and it meant that the movie was going to be released after Aquaman 2.

So, here’s the update that Syl Abdul gave us in relation to Michael Keaton’s screen time as Batman in The Flash movie:

There is still a possibility that Keaton’s role could actually be reduced in The Flash.

Abdul then explained that Keaton’s scenes in the film’s middle part would likely remain intact. However, on the other hand, the third act is questionable, especially the ending. Abdul added:

I was assuming Keaton was still there. Keaton may not be there in the end. His future is murky.

Will there be more of Keaton’s Batman in the DCU?

So, all this to say that is seems as though Warner Bros. Pictures is cutting Keaton’s screen time in the movie, which I think is a mistake because I would love to see more of Keaton’s Batman – not less. However, with DC Studios now under new leadership in James Gunn and Peter Safran, it seems that the plans for the DCU’s future have changed quite drastically.

That said, it was reported that Keaton’s role in The Flash movie was going to be significant. I’d heard that it was going to be a bit like Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s time in Spider-Man: No Way Home. They both ended up playing pretty vital roles in the movie. However, it sounds as though things might have changed, and the studio executives might want to play down Keaton’s importance in the movie.

The Flash movie is currently scheduled for release in theatres in the United States and in the United Kingdom on June 23rd, 2023.
