Kevin Feige’s Star Wars Movie Cancelled

It’s been revealed that Kevin Feige’s super-secret Star Wars movie has been cancelled – shelved – by Disney and Lucasfilm, and we haven’t really been offered a reason as to why they’ve taken this decision. It was revealed by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy a while back that Feige was going to be making his own Star Wars movie.

However, it seems as though the powers that be have decided not to move forward with Feige’s movie, which was going to be set in a galaxy far, far away. I think this is really sad news because I was very much looking forward to seeing what he had in store for us.

Prior to this news, it had been reported that Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness writer, Michael Waldron, had been tapped to write Feige’s Star Wars movie script. However, it seems as though the movie is no longer in “active development”, which means it’s effectively been cancelled by the studio.

So, according to Variety, Feige’s Star Wars picture is no longer in active development. This is just industry speak for “cancelled”. The movie won’t be moving ahead over at Lucasfilm, which I find very strange indeed.

The project was announced by Kennedy during Disney’s Investors Day presentation back in 2020, and I remember it being a huge deal. However, this wasn’t the only news that Variety revealed in their recent article on new Star Wars developments.

They also revealed that Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie has also been scrapped. That doesn’t come as much of a surprise since it seems Jenkins hasn’t been getting along very well with Hollywood’s top brass recently.

She’s just lost her Wonder Woman 3 movie, and there were reports that her Star Wars movie had also been scrapped by the studio. It was also revealed that Taika Waititi wants to star in his upcoming Star Wars picture, which seems to still be in development as of writing this article.

I’m sure many of you will be asking why Lucasfilm and Disney opted to cancel Feige’s Star Wars movie. I don’t know for sure, but I wonder whether it might have something with Feige’s aspirations to become Disney’s head of film and TV content.

It had been reported that he was looking at taking over the position, and maybe he’s been offered it. That would mean he would have little time to work on this Star Wars picture. I reckon that might have been the reason why they opted to cancel it.

I have a feeling that someone else might take up the slack on that project, and it could be revived by Lucasfilm at a later date. They’ve done stuff like that in the past in Hollywood, and I wouldn’t be too surprised should they do the same thing again with this project.

We’re just going to have to wait and see what ends up happening with the future of the Star Wars movies. At the moment, it’s all about The Mandalorian and the other Star Wars TV shows they have in development.
