It’s been confirmed that Jon Favreau came very close to leaving The Mandalorian and all things Star Wars because of a fallout with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. This had been rumoured to be the case before now, but we’ve finally got confirmation that this actually happened from a very solid source.

I’ll get into the source in question. However, before we get into that, I wanted to go over what’s been going on with Lucasfilm and the future of the Star Wars franchise.

So, ever since Disney took control of Lucasfilm, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag. However, the one thing that has remained the same since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm was that Kathleen Kennedy was in charge.

She’s been the President since the acquisition, and part of the reason why George Lucas agreed to sell his company to Disney was because he trusted Kennedy. He and Kennedy had been working together for years.

She was one of the main producers of the Indiana Jones movies, and she is a very respected producer in Hollywood circles. She’s one of Hollywood’s most successful producers of all time.

However, since she’s been in charge of Star Wars, it’s been very much a mixed bad. We’ve seen some pretty awesome movies and TV shows, such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian and Andor.

However, we’ve also seen some very poor and decisive movies and TV shows such as Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, The Book Of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Fans of Star Wars have been pretty much up in arms about the current state of the franchise and are worried about its future. All of this was made worse by the fact that Kennedy has constantly been announcing movies and TV shows only to cancel them months or years later.

Boba Fett was originally going to get his own movie, and it was going to be directed by Josh Trank. We were going to get a new series called Rangers Of The New Republic, but that was cancelled after the whole Gina Carano fiasco.

Then there were the likes of the Kevin Feige Star Wars film, Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron, Rian Johnson’s trilogy, and supposedly Taika Waititi’s Star Wars picture, which have all reportedly been cancelled after having been announced by the Lucasfilm President.

Well, it turns out that Kennedy also got on Jon Favreau’s nerves, so much so that he almost left The Mandalorian during the second season after the producer got far too involved in the project and forced him to change certain story beats in the season.

Is it time for Kennedy to step down as Lucasfilm President?

Here’s what was revealed by Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast in relation to Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy’s falling out over The Mandalorian Season 2:

What my sources told me is that Jon Favreau had a falling out with Kathleen Kennedy, after Season 2 of The Mandalorian, I think it was, because she tried to get so involved in the show to point where Jon Favreau almost left the show after Season 2.

He went on to add that Kennedy also forced Favreau to make The Book Of Boba Fett and get Grogu and Djin to reunite in that series. Here’s what he had to say:

I’m told she also forced him to do Boba Fett, (…) she forced him to make Grogu and Djin reunite [in The Book Of Boba Fett], which Jon Favreau did not want to do.

Well, thankfully, Favreau stayed around, and it’s going to be interesting to see what will happen in Star Wars and in The Mandalorian’s future.

Kennedy is a joke. She ruins everything she’s touched now that she actually has power and isn’t just getting Steven his coffee.
