The Joker sequel is said to be having issues, which is from the extras saying that they aren’t allowed to take bathroom breaks. With all the news that’s been happening around DC Studios and its new DC Universe, this Elseworld film has problems coming out of its production.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was one of the best surprises for Warner Bros. Even though it’s a movie set in the world of Batman, the Caped Crusader is nowhere in sight. As the film focuses only on the Crown Prince of Crime.

Joker was a box office hit, earning $1.074 billion dollars. Initially, there were no plans for making a sequel. But because of its success, it didn’t take long for Warner Bros. to greenlight a sequel titled Joker: Folie à Deux.

With that in mind, you would think that the production of the next film would take care of their cast and crew. But apparently, it seems that the extras are the least of the production’s concerns.

A report from TMZ has said that extras for the production have been complaining about the work. It is said that they are not allowed to drink or use the bathroom during filming.

Background actors just usually wait during camera setups which usually take from 20 minutes to an hour. But even when waiting, the extras are worried that using the loo might get them scolded by the higher-ups. Reports say that some of them have already been.

One of the assistant directors was overheard saying:

I’ve never had to go to the bathroom this much. What do they even do in there? Cause they definitely aren’t using them.

The Screen Actors Guild has been informed of the complaints and is currently investigating. So far, it seems that the production has been cooperative, but SAG will continue to monitor the situation.

This is not the first time this happened with the Joker. While making the original film, extras were locked in a subway car for 3 hours. Reports say they were not allowed to leave the car. Making them resort to other ways to relieve themselves between the cars.

While I understand the need to get Joker: Folie à Deux done as soon as they can since making movies is very expensive. It is important that people should be able to use the loo whenever possible. There are a lot of medical complications which can cause damage to the bladder, kidneys, and intestines which can lead to life-threatening situations.

For the production to think that going to the loo is not a priority is a serious issue. And to think that this already happened before, we wonder who Todd Phillips is trusting with the production.

The Joker sequel is set to introduce Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, and it is also confirmed that the movie is a musical. Considering how serious the first movie was, many were curious why the sudden shift.

From what I understand, the movie focuses on the mind of Harley Quinn. This means every music and possible dancing is all in her head.

While this is a DC Studios production, this is not going to be part of the new DC Universe. This has been labelled an Elseworld film. This means that this is going to be a separate universe from James Gunn’s DC Universe and Matt Reeves’ Batman Universe.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released on October 4th, 2024.
