Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Ben Chew, has explained why he fist-pumped when Kate Moss’ name was mentioned in the courtroom.

During a recent interview with Law & Crime Network, Mr Chew revealed why he fist-pumped and celebrated in the courtroom when Kate’s name was mentioned by Amber Heard during her testimony.

Here’s what he had to say about it:

There was an instance in which Ms Heard actually did admit to punching Johnny, and that was what we call the ‘staircase incident.’

Ben then went on to explain why it was such an important moment in the trial.

But her [Amber Heard] explanation for that was she had to punch Johnny because she was convinced that but for her punching Johnny, Johnny would have pushed her sister Whitney down the stairs the same way she had heard that he had pushed Kate Moss down the stairs.

Ben Chew went on to admit that “he lost [his] composure for a moment” and did the fist pump because he was sure that the accusation was false.

Since the verdict was delivered by the jury in Fairfax, Virginia, Johnny Depp has had some stuff to say.

He revealed that he was “humbled” by the verdict and said that it had given him his life back.

Depp is currently playing gigs on a UK tour with Jeff Beck.

Meanwhile, Depp’s lawyers – Ben Chew and Camille Vasquez – gave interviews in which they were asked about the possibility of Depp dropping damages against Ms Heard.

They said the case was never about money which suggests that he might do.
