John Krasinski Signs For Fantastic Four Film

Seems as though John Krasinski will be playing Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four MCU film! Before I really get into the weeds of this story, I’d like to make it perfectly clear that this comes from a relatively untested source. However, I have seen it reported in a variety of media outlets, and it seems as though it might be a done deal. So, this report comes to us via Emmet Kennedy, who posted the news on his Twitter account.

Emmet isn’t known for his Marvel scoops at all. He’s actually a sports journalist and podcaster based in Ireland. Honestly, I’m not sure how he would know about upcoming Marvel casting news, but then again, he is a pretty well-known journalist in Ireland, and I’m not sure why he would tweet this unless he was pretty confident about the information he was given.

Anyway, here’s what Emmit had to say about the casting announcements that will be made at Marvel’s upcoming panel at D23:

I’m reliably informed that Marvel Studios have signed epic talent for Phase 5

John Boyega
Henry Cavill
Jodie Comer
Daisy Edgar-Jones
John Krasinski
Giancarlo Esposito
Denzel Washington

To be announced (with some on stage) by Feige at #D23Expo2022

Again, this would be huge if Marvel President, Kevin Feige, should come out on stage at D23 and announce that all of these actors are joining the MCU for Phase 5. I genuinely think it would end up breaking the Internet. John Boyega, Henry Cavill, Jodie Comer, Daisy Edgar-Jones, John Krasinski, Giancarlo Esposito and Denzel Washington are all among the world’s biggest movie stars.

Is Marvel prepared to break the bank for Phase 5?

There have been some rumours out there already about the likes of John Boyega and Henry Cavill joining the MCU. We were actually informed not too long ago that Cavill has been in talks with Marvel for quite a big role. We’ve recently heard that he might be turning up in Loki Season 2, which would be epic if you ask me. As for Boyega, he’s been playing coy about joining the MCU, but he’s constantly being asked about it whenever he’s being interviewed.

I know that there might be some DCEU and Superman fans out there that might be worried to hear that Cavill is being lined up to star in the MCU. However, there’s no reason he couldn’t turn up in both universes. As for Giancarlo Esposito, he actually revealed a while back that he has been in conversations with Marvel Studios for a future role.

Will Krasinski be back as Reed Richards?

Now, back to John Krasinski. He’s already played Reed Richards in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. However, in that movie, he was turned into blue spaghetti by Scarlet Witch. Some people have also been speculating that Marvel’s actually looking at casting You’s Penn Badgley in the role. It seems as though whatever ends up happening, Krasinski will be playing some sort of role in the upcoming Fantastic Four film.

As for the film’s director, it sounds as though Marvel is looking at WandaVision director, Matt Shakman to helm the project. He’s actually a pretty darn good choice if you ask me. I think that WandaVision was brilliant, and Shakman’s been proving himself to be a pretty interesting director having worked on shows such as Game Of Thrones, The Great, and It’s Always Sunny In Philidelphia.

There’s no release date yet for the Fantastic Four movie. However, Kevin Feige did reveal at San Diego Comic-Con that the movie would be released in 2024.
