James Gunn Doesn’t Want To See Robert Downey Jr. Return As Iron Man In The MCU

There’s been a lot of talk recently about Robert Downey Jr. potentially returning to the MCU as Iron Man.

However, it sounds as if some people might not be so keen on the idea.

One of those people is Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn.

Gunn revealed that he didn’t want to see Robert Downey Jr. return as Iron Man in the MCU.

He revealed this during a recent Q&A he held on his Instagram account (via ComicBook.com).

“Are you interested in bringing Iron Man back?” A fan asked Gunn and he gave a very direct response.

“Nope. I think Downey’s arc was great, and he’s an amazing Iron Man,” Gunn replied.

Gunn like’s to say quite a lot of stuff during these Q&A sessions on Instagram.

The director and writer recently revealed that he had some other project potentially in line with Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics in case The Suicide Squad didn’t work out.

“As has been reported many times, DC offered me whatever film I wanted to do, including some sort of Superman movie (not specifically Man of Steel 2 as I’ve seen reported),” Gunn said during another recent Instagram chat.

“I chose The Suicide Squad because it’s one of my favourite properties in the world. It’s the story I wanted to tell more than any other.”

What do you make of all of this? First off, do you think Gunn’s right in not wanting to see Robert Downey Jr. play Iron Man again in the MCU?

Secondly, would you like him to make another DC Comics movie?
