Johnson said this during an interview with ComicBook.com after the DC Films panel at Comic-Con.
You can check out the interview with Johnson below:
Dwayne has been very open in the past about wanting to fight Superman in the DC Universe.
He’s also said time and time again that he is a big fan of Henry’s.
However, I believe this is the first time he’s actually mentioned Cavill’s agent, Dany Garcia.
Garcia is actually very interesting in this whole story, and I’ll go into that in more detail in a moment.
Dwayne Johnson really does love Henry Cavill’s take on Superman
However, first off, let’s go over what Johnson actually had to say about Henry Cavill’s take on Superman.
Here’s what he said when he was asked whether he and Henry had ever spoken about what would happen if Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman fight in the DC Universe:
I will say this… I will say that, I will say that, Henry’s a buddy, and he is a phenomenal Superman. He is a phenomenal Superman, and Henry Cavill is a Superman of our generation, with respect to the other Supermans in the past, and every time I see him, we have some tequila, I always say, ‘How’s Superman’, and these guys will attest to that. So, my long-time business partner, who you know, who’s his sister [Johnson’s referring to the man next to him], she has been a passionate advocate for Henry Cavill and his career for a very, very long time. The reason I say all of that is because there’s a, you’ve got a lot of people who advocate for on Henry’s behalf, and root for him to win, and I do root for him to win, and at the end of the day, he’s a phenomenal Superman.
Should Black Adam fight Superman in the DC Universe?
So, if you look at what Johnson’s saying during that interveiw, it certainly sounds like he wants Cavill to come back.
Johnson and Cavill share the same agent, Dany Garcia.
This is actaully a key aspect to the negotiations, since I’m sure it’s beneficial for both The Rock and Garcia to have Cavill return.
Garcia, as well as being Johnson’s agent, is also a partner in Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions.
She’s actually the co-founder.
It would make a lot of business sense for Johnson and Garcia to have Cavill play Superman in their upcoming DC Comics movies.
First off, it would bring in a lot of fans to watch their DC Comics movies.
Secondly, they would get a pretty big cut of the deal with Warner Bros in getting Cavill to return to the role.
As it stands, it sounds like Cavill is playing hardball with the movie studios, and so he should.
He deserves as much money as he can get out of Warner Bros Discover.
Fingers crossed it all ends up working itself out.
