Bryan Cranston In Talks For Star Trek 4 Villain

Bryan Cranston might be about to join Star Trek 4 as the movie’s villain. This report comes via Giant Freakin Robot, and I think it would be terrific casting if this turns out to be true. There has been a lot written about this upcoming Star Trek movie. It’s been in development hell for quite some time now. The movie has literally just lost its director. The film was going to be directed by Matt Shakman.

Shakman ended up leaving the project in order to go back to Marvel Studios to direct their upcoming Fantastic Four movie. That film was originally going to be directed by Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home and Now Way Home director, Jon Watts. Watts, however, left the project due to “creative differences”. However, it looks like Paramount Pictures is still moving ahead with Star Trek 4 and is casting new actors for the movie, or at least, trying to cast them.

Honestly, as far as casting’s concerned, I genuinely believe that Cranston would be the perfect casting for the film’s villains. The Star Trek movies, the new ones, have had some pretty good villains. The likes of Eric Bana’s Nero in the first of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness and then Idris Elba’s Krall in Star Trek Beyond. I think that The Malcolm In The Middle actor could blow all of them out of the water.

I remember when fans were calling for the Breaking Bad actor to be cast as Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice movie. That role ended up going to Jesse Eisenberg, and his performance in the role was somewhat divisive, to say the least. I know that many DC Comics fans still think that the Breaking Bad actor should have played the role instead. He showed what a talented actor he is in the AMC series. In that series, he famously played Walter White, who eventually became one of the most iconic villains of all time.

What’s going on with this upcoming Star Trek 4 movie?

Anyway, Paramount Pictures’ main goal right now as far as Star Trek 4’s concerned is to find a new director. Shakman was a good choice of director for this fourth movie. However, I’m sure they could find someone very special to helm this fourth movie. The thing I would love to see is Paramount Pictures going back to Quentin Tarantino and make the Star Trek movie that he wanted to make. It was revealed that J.J. Abrams himself loved Tarantino’s idea for a Star Trek movie. I can’t remember off the top of my head whether that idea was ever turned into a script.

However, it has to be said that the Star Trek franchise is in a bit of an odd place. The last movie, Star Trek Beyond, didn’t perform very well at the box office. It received pretty good reviews. However, people just didn’t go to see it in the cinemas. We’ve now got a bunch of Star Trek shows that haven’t been received all that well by a number of Star Trek fans. That said, there are some pretty great Star Trek shows coming out. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a very good example of a great Star Trek series.
