Ben Affleck’s Batman Return Teased By WBD Boss

Ben-Affleck-Batman-Return

It seems as though Warner Bros Discovery’s CEO, David Zaslav, has teased the full-time return of Ben Affleck’s Batman to the DCU, which is terrific news. Many column inches have been dedicated to whether he will return as Batman in the DC Universe.

We’ve recently heard reports that Batfleck will be back, not only in The Flash and Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, but also in his own standalone Batman films. We’ve also heard reports that Warner Bros and DC Studios are planning to make a Trinity movie which could star the likes of Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, all back in their respective superhero roles.

So, what was said, and why do we believe that Zaslav was teasing Affleck’s long-lasting return as Batman in the DCU? Well, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zaslav revealed that there wouldn’t be multiple versions of Batman in the DCU, which makes sense. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

I think over the next few years, you’re going to see a lot of growth and opportunity around DC; there’s not going to be four Batmans.

So, with this in mind, it seems as though what Zaslav is saying here is that they are going to focus on having just one Batman within the DCU, and the most likely contender to play the role full-time in the DCU is Ben Affleck. We already know that Michael Keaton will be coming back as the Dark Knight in The Flash movie. However, we’ve been hearing reports that his role in the movie has been significantly reduced from what it was going to be originally.

Batfleck will be back for good!

So, with all this in mind, it really does seem as though Affleck is going to be back as the Dark Knight for good. This is something that I have been longing to see in the DC Universe for quite some time. However, for some reason, Affleck’s return to the role hasn’t been a certainty. Affleck himself even suggested that his time playing the character was over.

However, we then heard that he was going to be playing the role again in The Flash movie and then again in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. So, it seems as though he has caught the Batman bug again and wants to continue playing the role for as long as he can.

Will there be a new Batman trilogy?

One of the questions I know fans of Batfleck have is will we get to see a new trilogy with his version of the Dark Knight? Well, the answer to that question is yes, perhaps. It’s been reported by multiple outlets that Ben Affleck is going to get to play the Dark Knight in his own standalone trilogy. This means that we’re going to be getting two versions of Batman and two Batman trilogy basically running parallel with one another.

That might be a bit confusing. However, it does seem as though Warner Bros is carrying on with the Matt Reeves/Robert Pattinson Batman films and will also be making DCU Dark Knight movies at the same time. For me, as a Batman fan, this is a dream come true. I love the idea of having the DCU and the Reeves DC universe going along at the same time. That means more movies for me to watch and then write and talk about. It’s a win-win situation.
