Andy Serkis Is In Talks To Play Alfred Pennyworth In The Batman
The Batman news really is coming in thick and fast at the moment, and we’re now learning that Warner Bros. Pictures is trying to get Andy Serkis to play Alfred Pennyworth in Matt Reeves’ DC Comics project.
This news comes from The Hollywood Reporter who’ve reported that Andy Serkis is Warner Bros. Pictures’ main choice to play the role of Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman.
Serkis is currently hard at work prepping for Venom 2 which he is going to direct, so he must be incredibly busy, so that might cause a bit of an issue for the actor.
He might not have enough time to do both because they’ll be filming around about the same time, but I’m sure they could make it work somehow.
They’d do this because frankly put, Serkis is perfect to play Alfred. He’s British and does look like he could hold himself in a fight.
Andy Serkis would be a perfect Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman
He’d be a bit of a grittier version of the character than the likes of Sir Michael Caine, however, I really do think it could work.
We already know that Robert Pattinson is going to be playing Bruce Wayne in The Batman, and I’d love to see the two actors get to share the screen and potter about in the Wayne Manor.
I also have a sneaky suspicion that Alfred will have a much bigger role in Matt Reeves’ movie than he’s ever had before in a Batman movie.
There’s the fact that this Batman movie will be a bit like a Sherlock Holmes story, and Alfred could play Watson to Bruce Wayne’s Holmes.
I think they might be in constant radio communication in this movie, and I love Serkis’ voice.
This news comes after it was revealed that Matthew McConaughey is being courted to play Harvey Dent, and Colin Farrell is in talks to play The Penguin in The Batman.
