News for The Batman is coming in thick and fast and we’re now hearing rumours that Matthew McConaughey could be about to be cast as Harvey Dent (a.k.a. Two-Face) in Matt Reeves’ upcoming DC Comics movie.
Matthew McConaughey is a fantastic actor, there’s no doubt about it. He’s shown how good he is time and time again, whether it be in movies like Interstellar, The Dallas Buyers Club or Dazed And Confused.
He’s a terrific actor, even though he’s been in some real stinkers (don’t even bother watching The Dark Tower – it’s terrible).
We’re now hearing rumours that he could be in the running to play Harvey Dent (Two-Face) in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
OK, so I have to note that this rumour comes from We Got This Covered’s sources, so take it with a pinch of salt.
That said, I’ve seen many other news outlets, including the Daily Mail, run with it, so maybe there’s some truth behind these rumours.
Matthew McConaughey would make an excellent Harvey Dent
We do know that this Batman movie will feature a rogues gallery of Batman villains as the Dark Knight tries to get to the bottom of some grizzly mystery, possibly a murder.
There have been reports that this Batman movie will play out a bit like a Sherlock Holmes novel, which I think is a terrific idea.
Then there will be Robert Pattinson as Batman himself. The addition of McConaughey would merely solidify this cast as being one of the most talented ones ever assembled for a comic book movie.
That said, I would think that McConaughey’s talents would be somewhat wasted as just a bit player in a bigger picture.
However, he does have a reputation of being in just one small scene of a movie and stealing the whole show – watch The Wolf Of Wall Street to find out what I’m talking about.
