There’s been so much Batman news of late, and we’re just hearing that Warner Bros. Pictures is in talks with Irish actor, Colin Farrell to play one of DC Comics’ most iconic villains, The Penguin in The Batman.
That’s already a great cast, and then yesterday we learnt that Matthew McConaughey is in talks to play Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face.
The Batman’s cast is really becoming ridiculous, and we’re hearing from Deadline that Warner Bros. Pictures is trying to get Colin Farrell to play The Penguin in their upcoming DC Comics film.
Honestly, I don’t think there’s ever been such an impressive cast assembled for a movie, let alone a comic book movie.
Farrell is a terrific actor having appeared and impressed in such movies as Widows, Roman J. Israel Esq, The Lobster, In Bruges and he was easily the best thing about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
He’s also got experience in comic book movies having dialled his performance up to eleven as the supervillain Bullseye in the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie.
Collin Farrell would make an excellent The Penguin in The Batman
He was again, the best thing about that movie, and the film’s flaws had nothing to do with his performance. Farrell was just having a great time chewing the scenery.
It’s just a shame that the film’s scenery and direction was a bit rubbish.
If they manage to get Farrell on-board the Matt Reeves DC project, I think they’d have cast the best possible person to play The Penguin.
The last person to play the role in a movie was Danny DeVito in Batman Returns, however, there hasn’t been a good version of the supervillain since.
I think Farrell would do something genuinely interesting with the role and perhaps something we haven’t seen before.
I’m so happy they didn’t go with the other rumoured actors, Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill.
