Zack Snyder Wants To Direct The Dark Knight Returns

Zack Snyder has revealed that he still really wants to direct a straight adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns.

Snyder revealed this in a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

He did reveal a while ago that Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is partly inspired by Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel.

That’s pretty obvious when you watch the movie.

The film is a different take on the comic, and the idea of putting Batman against Superman in the film definitely came from that comic.

Also, the fact that Snyder got Ben Affleck to read out a segment from the graphic novel at San Diego Comic-Con a few years back just shows how much reverence Snyder has for The Dark Knight Returns.

Here’s what Zack Snyder had to say about wanting to direct an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns:

I think it would just be its own thing. I would do it 100 per cent Watchmen style. I don’t even think it’d be that expensive, to be honest. It’s pretty gritty.

I love the idea of seeing Snyder get to make a live-action The Dark Knight Returns movie from Zack Snyder, especially if he makes it the same way he made Watchmen.

There was a lot of the comic in Snyder’s Watchmen movie, and that was one of the main reasons why the movie worked so well.
