Tom Hardy Won A Martial Arts Tournament

Tom Hardy won a real-life martial arts tournament! The guy is an actual real-life superhero and proper badass! The actor made a surprise appearance at a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament, and he ended up winning first place in his division. This news was revealed via a rec4nt post on Facebook, which you can see below.

I suppose it’s pretty easy for me to be impressed, but even the most curmudgeonly people reading this article have to be a little bit impressed by Tom Hardy’s abilities. I knew that he took training very, very seriously. However, I can’t think of too many actors who’ve learnt a new skill to prepare for a role and then ended up becoming really, really good at them. I do believe that Hardy’s always been interested in martial arts, but he stepped it up a notch when he trained for films such as Warrior and the Venom movies.

There are some other actors who have done something similar to Tom Hardy. The first two that come to mind are Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise. Both actors learned new skills in preparation for upcoming movies. Keanu learned how to brandish and shoot a gun properly for the John Wick movies. He actually also learned the relatively new martial art of ‘gun-fu’. Tom Cruise has learned all sorts of new skills in preparation for his Mission: Impossible and Top Gun movies.

Cruise learned how to do things such as climbing and flying a fighter plane for his movies. He’s easily one of the craziest actors working in Hollywood today. I would love to see an interview of all three actors in which they talk about how far they go to prepare for an upcoming action movie role. It would be very interesting indeed.

As for the Mad Max and Venom actor, we’re going to see him next in Havoc, then Venom 3, followed by The Bikeriders and War Party. It was also announced that he’s going to be returning as Max Rockatansky in an untilted Mad Max project, but I’m not sure how far along that project is. They are currently filming the Furiosa prequel movie with Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy.

This movie is being directed by George Miller, who also directed Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road. It’ll be the fifth movie in the Mad Max franchise and I cannot wait to watch it. Taylor-Joy is going to be playing a younger version of Furiosa in the film, and the character’s original actor, Charlize Theron, did express her sadness at not being asked to return to the role. She did enjoy playing Furiosa, but her and Hardy famously didn’t get along on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road.
