There are so many rumours making the rounds about Spider-Man: No Way Home, and there are some outlets suggesting that Tobey Maguire might get to play Spider-Man again after this next movie.

Now, first thing’s first, we need to address the elephant in the room. Tobey Maguire still isn’t ‘officially’ confirmed as being in the movie.

However, we and many other outlets have been informed that he and Andrew Garfield are both going to be in the movie. With that in mind, let’s think about the future of the Spider-Man franchise.

What could happen to the character after No Way Home is released? Well, long-time Spider-Man movie producer, Amy Pascal, revealed yesterday that they are already planning another Spider-Man trilogy with Marvel Studios.

She also revealed that Tom Holland was going to be starring in this new trilogy. Here’s what Pascal had to say on the matter during her recent interview with Fandango:

This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of… we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.

Will Tobey Maguire get to play Spider-Man again after No Way Home?

So, with this in mind, what about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield? Are we going to see more of them in these future Spider-Man movies, or will Spider-Man: No Way Home be their last hurrah?

Well, Geekosity is now suggesting that Tobey Maguire could return to the role after this upcoming movie. That would be very interesting, and I would love to see it happen.

Now, again, this isn’t set in stone as of yet. However, it sounds like the discussions are already happening, which is a very good sign.

I would imagine that Andrew Garfield might be the one who is more interested in returning for future Spider-Man movies. However, the word is that Tobey Maguire’s performance in Spider-Man: No Way Home is show stopping.

I will go into that in more detail in a future article. Let’s just say that a little birdie told me to be prepared for tears during Tobey Maguire’s No Way Home scenes.

Could Andrew Garfield also play Spider-Man again?

We were recently told that Kevin Feige was the one who didn’t want Maguire and Garfield’s involvement to be part of the promotional material for the movie. According to our source, Sony Pictures was very keen on selling the movie on there being three Spider-Men in it.

However, Feige and others are Marvel Studios thought it would be a better idea to keep that part of the movie a secret, and I agree with them. That said, the cat’s very much out of the bag on that one, I’m afraid.

However, it’ll still be a huge thrill to see the three Spider-Men together in the movie fighting some of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains. We know we’re getting Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard.

As for Garfield and Maguire’s involvement in future Spider-Man movies, only time will tell. It sounds as though they are currently talking about it with Marvel and Sony, however, nothing’s been finalised yet.

I think that both actors would serve as great mentors for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man moving forward and it would be nice to see them return. However, I do wonder whether this movie will have a rather final end for both versions of Spider-Man.
