The Batman is gearing up to be my most-anticipated movie of 2021 and I’m sure it’ll be many of yours too. One of the reasons is the film’s incredible cast, which includes Colin Farrell as The Penguin.
The Irish actor was talking to Jimmy Kimmel recently and they kicked off the interview by discussing his film which is in cinemas now, Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen.
However, Colin Farrell and Kimmel quickly moved onto the subject of his upcoming movie, The Batman.
During this interview, Farrell revealed that they are still working out the final look of the iconic DC Comics villain he’ll be bringing to life in the movie, The Penguin.
In the past, this character’s been played by the great Danny DeVito, whom Farrell has worked with in the Disney movie, Dumbo.
Most people tend to think of The Penguin as a short far man who resembles a penguin, yet this won’t be totally the case with Farrell’s version of the character.
He told Kimmel that his Penguin’s going to be slightly different after the TV presenter told him that the Penguin is usually a short, fat man.

Yeah, well I have some time to eat and shrink.
Kimmel then asked how much time Farrell has before he has to start shooting the movie, and the Irish actor revealed that he has three weeks to go yet before he starts filming the movie.
Three weeks, yeah. But I’m an addict so I can do some damage.
Farrell then revealed that he’s still working out The Penguin’s final look with The Batman’s director and writer Matt Reeves.
I’m still in the process of talking to Matt Reeves, who’s the director and who wrote the script, and wrote a really, really beautiful, dark, moving script. Really gorgeous.
So, it sounds like Farrell and Reeves are still thinking about how The Penguin will look in The Batman.
However, it’s clear to see that Farrell’s been putting on the pounds for the role, so he’ll be pretty bulky in the movie.
What do you think about Colin Farrell as The Penguin in The Batman? Are you excited to see what he does with the role?
