The Batman: Catwoman and The Penguin Confirmed As The Villains In Matt Reeves’ DC Comics Film?

It seems as though Catwoman and The Penguin have been confirmed to be the villains in Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman flick, which is at the moment called The Batman.

There’s a lot of column inches being devoted to The Batman this week, and Warner Bros. must be loving this attention the film’s been getting.

Matt Reeves’ film has been in the works for quite some time now and he’s been quietly working away on the film’s script in the background.

He took over from Ben Affleck who was going to write, direct and star in the movie, but it proved to all be a bit too much for the guy and he stepped down from it all and paved the way for another actor to put on the cowl

So, it now looks like Robert Pattinson is the favourite to play the Caped Crusader in the upcoming film, and it’s also been suggested by The Hollywood Reporter that he’ll be facing up against Catwoman and The Penguin.

If this is true, then this film seems reminiscent of Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, in which both characters play a part. Danny DeVito famously played The Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer played Catwoman.

Now, there are no solid details about the film’s script, other than Reeves saying he’d like it to be a noire-driven Batman movie, which sounds great.

However, there are so many villains in Batman’s rogues’ gallery that it feels a bit, should we say lazy for Reeves to have opted for those two characters that have already been given plenty of time on the big and small screen.

That said, maybe he has something very special envisaged for them, and we should just all keep quiet until the film hits cinemas.

All that fans can do now is speculate on who will play the roles, and there have already been a number of names thrown into the ring.

Some fans suggested that Kristen Stewart would make a good Catwoman, and I agree 100 per cent with them, although should Pattinson get the Batman gig, it might make casting her a tad difficult.

As for The Penguin, Josh Gad has been campaigning heavily for the role, yet other names like Andy Serkis and Dan Fogler have also been suggested.

Meanwhile, if you’re not done with your R-Pats fix, you can have a look at our articles on the 5 movies you should watch if you don’t think he should play Batman and our explanation on why he’s the perfect man to play the Caped Crusader.

Anyway, The Batman, or whatever it’ll be called, is scheduled for release on June 25th, 2021, but that could change in time.
