The Batman: Robert Pattinson To Play Batman In Matt Reeves’ DC Comics Movie?

THE BATMAN seems to have found its lead in Robert Pattinson if the recent reports are anything to go by. However, there remains some uncertainty on whether the British actor has secured the iconic DC Comics role yet or not.

A lot of column inches have been dedicated to the question of who will be playing Batman after Ben Affleck announced he was stepping down from the role.

Affleck had played Bruce Wayne, a.k.a Batman, since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and went on to appear as the caped crusader in Suicide Squad and Justice League.

However, he’s now called it quits after having been attached to star in Matt Reeves’ The Batman for a while, and he was initially on-board to write and direct the picture, but they apparently just couldn’t get the script right.

With Affleck stepping down, there were a series of actors rumoured to be in contention for the role.

Names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Matt Bomer, Jon Hamm and Luke Evans were thrown around. However, it’s being reported now that British actor Robert Pattinson has landed the role.

The report came courtesy of Variety, who said that he’s in negotiations for the role.

However, they did note that it’s not a done deal yet, and this was followed with a report from Deadline that Robert Pattinson and Nicolas Hoult were both in the running to play DC Comics’ most famous superhero.

Both actors are good choices to play Batman; however, Pattinson seems like the frontrunner in this race.

He’s come a long way since the Twilight movies and has demonstrated that he’s one of the most interesting and hard-working actors working in Hollywood today after having starred and impressed in films such as Cosmopolis, Good Time, The Lost City of Z and The Rover to name a few.

Pattinson certainly has the Bruce Wayne look down to a T and would be a great based from which to launch the DC superhero.

He’s young, talented, ambitious and is only signing on to projects he genuinely believes in, so the fact that he’s even interested in starring in this movie is a good sign for Matt Reeves’ picture.

Reeves came in to direct and write The Batman after Affleck stepped down from the duties claiming that he couldn’t quite crack the script.

Reeves has already proven himself to be a masterful director having helmed the last two Planet of the Apes movies: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes.

The Batman is currently slated for a June 25th, 2021 release.
