When Will Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Be Released On Amazon Prime Video?

Star Trek: Picard Season 1 has just come to an end on Amazon Prime Video, which means it’s now time to get excited for Season 2.

The first season ended up being pretty good and I for one cannot wait for Season 2.

However, it looks like we might have to wait a while until we get to see the next season of the newest Star Trek show.

The first season saw Patrick Stewart return as Jean-Luc Picard who ended up going back into space after having retired from Star Fleet.

This time he’s starts off as the outlaw, trying to track down as synthetic who doesn’t know what she really is yet.

The show takes place 20 years after Star Trek: Nemesis and is the eighth series in the Star Trek franchise.

The good news is that CBS has greenlit Star Trek: Picard Season 2, and in normal circumstances that would mean we would have to wait a few months until the new season is with us.

However, we aren’t living in normal circumstances at the moment what with COVID-19 keeping us all indoors at the moment.

This means that we might not get to see Star Trek: Picard Season 2 until the end of 2021 and maybe even the beginning of 2022.

That’s a long time to wait, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be worth it.

The first season of the show was just so compelling and it’s so good to see Stewart back as Picard that Season 2 will be something good to look forward to.

We do know that Star Trek: Picard Season 1’s showrunner, Michael Chabon, has stepped down, however he’ll stay on as an executive producer.

As for who will star in Season 2, I’m pretty certain that the likes of Patrick Stewart (Picard), Alison Pill (Agnes), Michelle Hurd (Raffi), Isa Briones (Soji), Evan Evagora (Elnor), Santiago Cabrera (Rios), and Harry Treadaway (Narek) will all come back.

I also think that Jeri Ryan will be back for Season 2 in some capacity.

One new addition that seems to have been leaked is that of Whoopi Goldberg who might return to the Star Trek franchise as Guinan.

She played the character back in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

This news was supposedly revealed when Patrick Stewart came to promote the show on The View, which is a show Goldberg is one of the co-hosts of.

He offered her a “formal invitation” to be part of the show and Whoopi accepted.

As for what Season 2 will be about, your guess is as good as mine.

What I do know is that Jean-Luc and his crew will probably end up going on another adventure in the upcoming season.

However, it does sound like Stewart isn’t interested in there being any sort of galactic pandemic storyline in Season 2.

The actor spoke to CBC (via CinemaBlend) about the pandemic, and whether or not Star Trek: Picard will cover the current pandemic crisis.

Patrick Stewart was not shy in his response, and made it clear that’s not a subject he’d like the series to tackle.

“I would not encourage that,” he began.

“This is a disturbing and frightening and sad time for many thousands of people. I would feel uncomfortable if we were to make this a theme of the second season of [Star Trek: Picard].

“It is too sensitive, too upsetting, too frightening, than some of the other issues that we have dealt with, which are much more of a political nature,” he finished.
