Shazam 2 Release Date Delayed To Avoid Avatar 2 Clash

Shazam 2’s (Shazam! Fury Of The Gods) release date has been delayed by a couple days to avoid a clash with Avatar 2’s release.

This is something that I’ve been expecting to happen for quite some time.

Shazam 2 was scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 16th, 2022, which happens to be the same day as Avatar 2’s release.

I thought this was an utterly bonkers move on Warner Bros’ behalf since Avatar 2 is easily going to eat up all available box office revenue during that time period.

The upcoming James Cameron movie looks all set to break the previous Avatar movie’s box office records, and there just won’t be enough money to go around during that time.

The vast majority of cinemagoers will opt to watch the new Avatar movie over the new Shazam movie.

It’s just a fact, and one which Warner Bros has seemingly just realised.

So, what Warners has decided to do is push the movie’s release date back a few days to December 21st.

They are obviously hoping that Avatar 2’s dominance would be slightly less at that point, but I still think that it’s bad business to have your movie open slo close to the box office behemoth that will be Avatar 2.

I think it would have been better to have the movie open either a whole month prior or after Avatar 2’s release date.

It just makes more business sense to stay as far away from that movie as possible.
