A new trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (Mission Impossible 7 for short), set to hit theatres this July, has just been released. This highly-anticipated film marks the first of a two-part saga featuring Tom Cruise as the formidable super spy, Ethan Hunt. Although speculation is rife that this could signal the conclusion of the series, official confirmation is yet to be announced.

In this latest instalment, Hunt and his team are tasked with their most perilous mission to date. They must track down a horrifying new weapon that poses a severe threat to humanity. As the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and malevolent forces from his past begin to converge, Hunt must confront the harsh reality that his mission takes precedence over everything else, including the lives of those he cherishes most.

Details surrounding Mission Impossible 7 have been shrouded in secrecy, despite the first trailer being released nearly a year ago. It is known, however, that the movie will delve into Ethan Hunt’s past, reuniting characters from throughout the series. Audiences can look forward to more of Tom Cruise’s signature daredevil stunts, some of which are showcased in the newly released trailer.

The new film sees the return of Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg as IMF agents Luther and Benji, Rebecca Ferguson as former MI6 agent Ilsa Faust, and Vanessa Kirby as arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis, also known as the White Widow. New additions to the franchise include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Pom Klementieff and Marvel star Hayley Atwell, who portrays Grace.

While no fresh footage has been released recently, an image of Pom’s character was made public last month. Director Christopher McQuarrie characterizes Klementieff’s character as a malevolent force opposed by Ethan at the outset of the story.

The title Dead Reckoning is a reference to Ethan’s past, according to McQuarrie. It’s a navigation term, signifying the determination of a course based solely on one’s last known position. This concept serves as a metaphor for not only Ethan but also several other characters in the story.
