Mike Colter And Krysten Ritter Tease Their MCU Comeback

The Defenders actors Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter tease their possible return to the MCU in an Instagram story. Both Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter are known for their roles in Netflix’s Marvel series Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.

They even teamed up a la Avengers style with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist in The Defenders. It even spawned a spin-off show The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal. But since Netflix cancelled the Marvel shows a lot of us wondered what would happen to them. Luke Cage lasted for two seasons on Netflix ending in 2018.

Jessica Jones lasted for 3 seasons and ended in 2019 on the streaming network. Daredevil, Iron Fist and The Punisher also ended around the same period. The appearance of Charlie Cox in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), reprising his role as Matt Murdock, gave us hope that they might return.

Not long after, Vincent D’Onofrio also returned to play Kingpin in Disney Plus’ Hawkeye series. Again, Cox returned to the role in Disney Plus’ She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and this time, he wore the Daredevil suit. They even used the same suit that was used in the Netflix show. However, they added some gold colour to make it a little different.

In a recent report by Geekosity, it seems that Krysten Ritter has teased us with her possible return as Jessica Jones. Note, there is nothing official here. She posted an Instagram story with a picture of her and her Defenders co-star, Mike Colter. That picture added a simple note:

Hey hey Power Man.

Power Man is the name of Luke Cage’s alter ego. He never used the name in the Netflix TV series, but it is his name in the comics.

We don’t know if these are new pictures. There is a possibility that they might be old ones since it’s not far off that Ritter would use those just to tag friends.

This is not the only time she has teased her possible return. Not long ago, she took a picture of herself wearing a shirt with the Daredevil symbol. Making a lot of fans wonder if she’ll be returning to the role in Daredevil: Born Again.

Last year, she changed her hair similar to her Jessica Jones look. Many presumed that she’d be filming something for the MCU.

Some even speculated that she might show up in Disney Plus’ She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. As we all know, that didn’t happen. Some do think that she might have filmed scenes for the show but was left on the cutting room floor.

So far, we still have nothing official from Marvel or Disney. Yes, we’ve been teased a lot actually. Many of us are really hoping that the Defenders will return. Our recent report of Jon Bernthal’s possible return as the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again does give us hope. Obviously, Marvel understands that the shows on Netflix did leave a lasting impact on fans of the MCU.

The Marvel Netflix shows didn’t really conflict with Marvel’s own movies. In fact, the shows did kind of acknowledge the events of The Avengers’ New York battle. To see Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter back as Luke Cage and Jessica Jones would be amazing. So far, the door hasn’t been closed.

Actually, all signs seem like they could return at some point. We just hope it’s sooner than later. But I do understand that timing is important.

I do wonder if the reason why Daredevil: Born Again is so long. It is reported to be having 18 episodes, which is currently the longest MCU series to date. It’s even longer than the Netflix shows. Would this be the show that will make the return of The Defenders possible?
