Michael Keaton Will Reportedly Be The DCEU’s Main Batman – Not Ben Affleck

It’s now being reported that Michael Keaton will be the DCEU’s main Batman moving forward, not Ben Affleck. This comes after the author of The New York Times’ interview with Walter Hamada revealed on Twitter that the other Batman in the DCEU will be Michael Keaton.

This has kind of taken the DC fan community by storm because there are still many people out there hoping to see Ben Affleck play Batman again beyond the upcoming Flash movie. They want to see him in a Batman series or even a Batman movie. However, this revelation seems to put a dent in their hope of ever getting to see more Batfleck following his appearance in The Flash.

Now, I’m not sure this is quite the case. I’m still pretty certain that there’s more life in Ben Affleck’s Batman. However, what The New York Time journalist, called Brooks Barnes was saying is that Keaton is the other Batman and he was hinting that he’s going to have a movie in the not-so-distant future. Michael Keaton was, in other words, the ‘other’ Batman DC Films’ Walter Hamada was referring to during their interview.

So, I think it might be best to relay what was written in that New York Times article, which is pretty confusing, even for me. DC Films’ overseer, Hamada revealed that there will be two versions of  Batman within the DC Extended Universe soon, saying:

“Coming up, for instance, Warner Bros. will have two different film sagas involving Batman — played by two different actors — running at the same time.”

So, this is what caused the confusion. However, some people have taken Barnes’ Twitter response to mean that Keaton will now be the second Batman in the DCEU. Yet, the fact of the matter is that there will actually be three Batmen in the DC Comics movie universe. Affleck’s, Pattinson’s and Keaton’s. Yes, it’s all confusing, and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

What I do know is, that there is a Batman Beyond movie in the works for HBO Max and it will star Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. So, perhaps that is what Walter Hamada was referring to?
