It’s been officially revealed that Mads Mikkelsen has replaced Johnny Depp as Grindelwald in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts 3 movie. This was revealed by The Wrap, and it’s been rumoured that this might happen for quite some time.

This is something that was hinted at a few weeks back. It was reported by multiple outlets and people really seemed to like the idea of Mads Mikkelsen playing Grindelwald. That said, I do not believe that Johnny Depp should have been asked to leave the role.

However, I do actually believe that Mads Mikkelsen is a better choice for Grindelwald. I would argue that he should have been cast in the first place. I’m actually quite looking forward to watching the movie now, and I think there will be a lot of people out there who will also want to see what Mikkelsen does with the role.

Interestingly enough, Mads Mikkelsen reffered to the news that he was up for the role of Grindelwald as “rumours” during an interview with IGN. He even claimed that he hadn’t been approached by Warner Bros. Pictures for the role. Now, he was clearly lying throught his teeth.

That said, what else could he have said? “Oh, yes. I am replacing Johnny Depp as Grindelwald!” No, he would have never been allowed to say anything about the role.
