It’s been revealed that Mads Mikkelsen is in talks with Warner Bros. Pictures to replace Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. This would be for Fantastic Beasts 3, and it seems as though people are very excited about the idea of Mikkelsen playing Grindelwald.

I’ve been thinking long and hard about this potential casting, and I think that Mikkelsen might be far better for the role of Grindelwald than Johnny Depp ever was. That said, I do not think that Depp should have been fired from the role.

Warner Bros. Pictures got rid for him for all the wrong reasons, and I really do believe that Depp was the best thing about the second Fantastic Beasts movie. It’s a shame that he won’t be in the third one, but I think Mads Mikkelsen would be an excellent replacement. It seems as though many people agree with me.

People took to Twitter in their droves to claim that they loved the idea of seeing Mads Mikkelsen play Grindelwald. He’s famous for playing Hannibal in the brilliant TV show, and he’s very sinister indeed.

However, I think he has a certain level of charm and sophistication that Depp’s version of the character lacked slightly. You would be able to tell why Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore might be very much taken with Mads Mikkelsen’s Grindelwald.

It also seems as though many people like the idea of seeing Mads and Jude kiss on screen. Perhaps they’ll do it. I don’t know. But it’s out there now and people seem to be very keen on the idea.
