It’s being rumoured that Alfred Molina could be returning to play Doctor Octopus in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. This comes from the website The Geeks Worldwide.
Molina played the iconic Spider-Man villain in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, which is widely thought of as the best Spider-Man movie ever made. There are also many people – myself included – who think that Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus is one of the best movie villains of all time.
He’s just so perfect in the role, and I can’t think of anyone else better for the role. It seems as though Marvel Studios is looking to bring back many of the actors from previous Spider-Man movies. We know that Jamie Foxx is going to be returning to play Electro. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are also returning to play their respective versions of Spidey.
Marvel and Sony had already brought J.K. Simmons back as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home. One of the reasons why they had to bring him back was because he was perfectly cast in the first place.

A source within Disney/Marvel has informed GWW that Alfred Molina will be returning to the Spider-Man franchise to reprise his role as the famed Doctor Octopus. Plot details are of course scarce as they always are with the super secretive Marvel productions, but we were informed Molina arrived on set a bit ago to work on some stunt choreography and has started filming his scenes in the past couple weeks.
So, as far as their sources are concerned, Molina has been on the set of Spider-Man 3 and he’s playing Doctor Octopus. I know there’ll be many fans – myself included – that cannot wait to see him return to the role.
